Within the last week or so there was a post that contained a pic of a ring I fell in love with. I have tried so hard to find it and can't. I will do my best to explain it-it had graduated sidestones which to my best recall were some kind of step cut-traps maybe. They were not prong set and had a delicate milgain around them. I can't recall if the center was a cushion or round but it was relatively low set. I would LOVE to find this picture and am wondering if it is a moissanite setting or where I can find one similiar.

Not only are you guys good-you are FAST! yup, that's the one. OMG, i love that ring! I am dreaming of it with a yellow sapphire center. BUUUT being new to most of these designers, I have few questions.....Is this a ring you can only get from Leon Mege? What exactly are french cuts? Looks like someone already contacted Wink and he can't/won't do it? Can you get just this semi-mount and how much of $$$$$$$ <-------- would one need? I am guessing way more than I have frown
Also wondering if you could achieve a similiar look with the top sidestone being a trap and then following it with graduated princess cuts? It could all be done with moissy and the same milgraining. Just a thought.

Leon Mege makes this ring, and if you do a search on google, Victor Canera makes a similar design called Sophia. I am partial to the LM one, but some people much prefer the look of Sophia. French cuts are very hard to source, VC recuts princess cuts, and LM has a source for cutting the frenchies. The setting will run about $8k.

You *could* achieve a similar look through graduated princess cuts, but there is not way to get tapered cuts without custom cutting. Custom cutting is expensive, plus y ou are paying for the stone and any stone lose through the recut, so «i would recommend just going with a graduation of princess cut stones. It will not be the same, but it will have a similar visual effect.

Thanks Jcent I will look for the VC one. Do you think it possible to fit a trap as the first stone above the princess stones in the band? I am thinking it may help it flare out at the top. No way can I afford 8K for a setting-do you think there is anyone out there that could do my idea in moissy?

We have thought about the trap idea before, but a step cut trap with brillant stones to follow would look odd. Part of the lure of this setting is the fluidity of the stones. I am sure it could be done, but it is one of those things; will you be happy with it?? Because it will not look like the original. It will be it`s own ring then. The stones in the LM are all E/F and the french cut is distinctive. Using other stones, moissy, will make it warmer, and their cut is distinctive as well, but nothing like french cuts.

here is a Verragio ring with graduated princess cuts, 3rd set down

Hmmm I totally get what you are saying. I don't mind the warmth of the moissy but I can totally see how mixing a step cut and a princess would look off. I did not like the Verragio (that eternity band in the first pics however, but I digress), it was too predictable. I guess this ring is not in my future anytime soon. And i didn't read through the whole posting but did the girl who finally got this ring (was it KJMM?) actually get it from LM?
Lastly, what IS your FB page? I can't see a link....
Thanks for all your input/insight!
