Is it ok to put palladium or platinum next to gold? Like side by side, such as an engagement ring and wedding band. Will they scratch one another too much? I figured someone here would know the answer. Thanks in advance!

Yes, the plat will wear down the gold over time. So ideally you would not stack them, or you would put a thin spacer between, so that the spacer takes athe abuse, not your rings. Etsy has a lot of spacers that are .8mm or 1mm thick.

True. My original set only has 5 years on it, and it is already showing wear. They tell me to solder, but I don't like that, so I am hoping that now, since I rotate a few, it will be ok, lol.

yeah...mine I had for 8 years before I had to part with it and wore it daily. I had NO idea of the wear on it. I was shocked. It was a three stone trellis setting and half the trellis on both sides was eaten away. (I'd take them off to clean them and not pay attention to how I put them back on.)

See now, this could be my "reason" for needing a whole new set in a few years. LOL

lol, it is so true though!!! If you don't want your original to wear out, you need things to alternate with it. wink Ideally you have 7 sets, one for each day. Then they will all last forever, lol.

Of course you could avoid this by soldering the rings together, but that's a personal decision.
