I'm considering getting a setting from Lord of the Gem Rings. Their prefab settings are listed a H SI.

There's a LOGR Cushion setting on DB -- seller states it was sold as SI1 but feels it is more like SI2-3.

Does anyone else have experience with settings from LOGR? Did you get an upgrade to VS stones? Did you get the SI stones? How did you feel about them?

I would look on Pricescope, there's a lot of reviews of LOGR settings there. I think the general consensus is that if you don't upgrade, you'll get the SI2 range, and that if you do upgrade you won't get all VS1 but it will be generally good stones. Pricescopers loop each individual melee which I think is a bit overboard.

LOGR settings used to come with much nicer "stock" diamonds than they do today. I imagine that is to keep the price down. It is my understanding from those that have purchased their rings recently that you may be disapointed if you don't upgrade the diamonds.

I haven't purchased one of their rings in over 3 years so I can't speak to that personally. When I had mine upgraded, the difference is price was worth it to me, but I have no idea of the price difference now that diamond prices have risen. I can tell you that their gold prices (and overall ring prices) have risen quite a bit.

I purchased an eternity band a few months ago, and the auction stated that they were VS2/SI1 clarity. When I received the band they were horrible quality and would definitely be a I3 quality or worse. I haven't bought from them again because of that, and wouldn't recommend them.

all of my LOGR pieces are several years old at this point - i think the newest one is just over a year old? i've never upgraded the stones, and don't have a problem with them.

but i'm a big fan of LOGR, and LOGR-type, settings. not as wear-everyday-for-forever pieces, but for right now, and RHRs.

Thanks for all your input.

My setting search continues. I've put in a few requests for pricing from different etsy sellers. I will let you all know how my hunt goes.

I'd also look into ID Jewelry, I think they have some of the lowest prices stateside.

Are we talking about side-stones/paves or the actual stone, here?

VS vs SI doesn't matter too much on sidestones, from what I've heard...right?

There are good SI stones and dud SI stones. If there are too many inclusions or the wrong type of inclusions, teh stones won't sparkle. Keep in mine melee isn't cert'd. It is sold in large parcels and the grading can be subjective.
