I do not look healthy at all, lol. I am pale and nauseous, and dizzy, lol. After birth though, it goes away immediately, and I get the glow for a few days...until the sleep deprivation settles in. So 2 will be good for me too. And I have every intention of letting them know how horrible it was when they are older. My first pregnancy, I got so depressed, I *wished and prayed* the baby would just go away. That is not a normal thought, but I was so sick. This time, I have to take care of DD still, so I have not let it get to me as much, but there were days when I regretted getting pregnant again. Again, not normal healthy thoughts, but ones of desperation and defeat.

No one really understand hyperemesis...unless they have had it. They just think you are being wimpy and that it is like the same "morning sickness" they have. ha, they have no idea.

+1 I know just what you mean and what you are going through. The water went in cold and came out still cold! elf & I must have had the same Dr (impossible I know I have you all by a good 25 years!) but my OB-Gyn was the same, she told me to tough it out and gave me no meds what so ever-it was unnecessary. When I started gaining wt the last trimester, she told me to be careful that I didn't become border line obese. The first time I got admitted they gave me Tigan suppositories. What a disaster-it flowed from both ends. She told me the baby still thrives as they pull everything from you. I feel for you, I hope the times flies by!

I would be very careful when drinking it straight. ACV is very acidic (acetic acid) and there have been numerous cases of people who have had the soft tissues of the esophagus burned by continuous use. It's also very damaging to tooth enamel. Mixing it with juice or water is definitely a much safer alternative.

When I was pregnant with my daughter 20 years ago I used an old wives remedy for heartburn. I drank a glass of warm milk with a tbsp of honey. Worked like a charm!

Elf, I am sorry that Dr was awful to you. If it was hyperemesis, it is a medical condition, and really needs meds and IVs to be controlled. Without them you will end up severly dehydrated and in the hospital with electrolyte issues. My midwives actually can't help me with it, and have to refer me to OBs. I have been lucky with the OBS I have gotten and they have been really compassionate, but they have all required that I be on meds. I wanted to go off the Zofran, as it is $10/pill, and I need 2 pills a day at least... So we have already spent $1000s on these meds, and they have side effects I dont like, but the Drs said no. Of course I could just do whatever I want at home, but I know that would end me up in emerg...so I just keep taking them..

There was a woman in the hospital with me during my first pregnancy, and they actually induced her at 36 weeks because she had lost so much weight and was so malnourished that her baby was growth restricted and they felt it would do better out, at 36 weeks than staying in. Scary!

zofran seems to do nothing for me. however mine cost 5 bucks for 30 pills, not sure why yours is so expensive. I stopped taking it. after 1 day and not getting results.
I just do unisom and b6 now. I am going to try and see if I can go off that this weekend b/c it seems to be getting much better now, i only really get sick/gaggy if I let myself get too hungry. So i'm eating constantly.
I secretly think this baby is actually a tapeworm.

Yup! When I had my heart surgery I was prescribed Zofran 'cause of my sensitivity to opiate painkillers. I paid $10 for 30 (4mg) tablets. I guess it's our health insurance that makes the difference.

Big Pharma I guess, lol. We get some money back on it after we submit receipts, but it is crazy expensive here.

I actually think that's rather funny 'cause we're constantly being told how much cheaper drugs are in Canada! In fact, there are so many Canadian online pharmacies where we US residents can order certain drugs much, much cheaper.

Big Pharma is no doubt the problem........

16 weeks tomorrow! I'm going crazy, it really bothers me that I can't feel anything moving around in there! How soon have you ladies felt your babies move? I'm terrified that they won't find a heartbeat at my next appt, which is still 11 days away!!!!

You will be fine smile 16 weeks is still a little early in the first pregnancy. Lots if people don't feel anything until 20 weeks+. I think I was starting to feel little things my first time, but it was so faint I couldn't be sure. 18-19 weeks, I became much more definite- YUP, real movement!! Some that only I could feel inside, and a *few* DH could feel outside. By 22 weeks, DH could feel her daily and I could see my stomach move when she kicked.

This time was earlier, like 13 weeks, but I started this PG much thinner, and the second time around, your body does everything sooner, and I knew what I was feeling. This baby is also MUCH more active than my first. That makes a difference too. My DD was sleepy in there and this one is a dancing machine.
