I have bought 3 kashmirs thus far and the first 2 (7mm cushion and 8mm round) are gorgeous and very much a saturated kashmir color. The 9mm round is something else entirely. I opened the package and the first thing I noticed is lightness and sparkle and with barely any saturation. Wow, what gives?? Not liking this one at all!

Here are the pictures...

wow, there is a noticable difference. Well, that makes it easier to choose then doesn't it wink I hope someone has a 8mm cushion for you smile That would just be too easy though, lol.

I wonder if this is a light ceylon? It's really that light!

And yep, Jcent, much easier! LOL! The size is nice though. I'll like to try a 9mm cushion just for kicks, but would hate to get this color. Kinda nervous now. Surely, this isn't a kashmir stone, right?

That is a noticeable difference. The 9mm also loses even more saturation at the edges.

Maybe it was a quality control escapee?

In my current 8mm round, there is also a difference in saturation around the edges, but I think that's due to the cut and light return being more intense around the outside.

And totally LOLed about the escapee comment.

Is it possible that one is a round sapphire cut and the other a round diamond cut?

I agree! Not only it is MUCH lighter, but the color is different. This one has a lavender tone. It's a pretty stone in it's own right, but NOTHING like the kashmir that makes me drool!

Ejill,no. They are both identical diamond cuts. The smaller one is just that much more saturated. You can see the cut of the true kashmir 8mm in the pic below. It's gorgeous!!!
