Guys, so I was wondering...since now I have a wedding set made by DK (and he is across the country) and obviously I loose my great extended warranty I had purchased, arghhh, DH hates this part!! how do I go by ring maintenance and all? Should I just try finding a reputable jeweler or in the instance something should happen (stone fall off, etc) should I contact DK and send it to him?? I also am obsessed with keeping my rings nice and fresh with rhodium (at least every 6 mo), is it expensive these days? I am clueless lately

For me,..I am always going to send mine to him if I need something else done. I trust him and everyone around here cost so much more. But I do HATE sending my rings anywhere!! So hopefully I will never have to again!

I'm extremely low maintenance. Anything I have made will be with X1 white gold or unplated gold. No rhodium plating. I take my wedding ring to the jeweler who made it for check-ups and he can do any repairs as well. Other minor repairs we have had done local as well....but I don't have an extensive collection or anything so it's been simple to keep up.
DD's ring from DK is X1 and he said all his castings will be from now on. It can still be rhodium plated if anyone wants it. If it ever needs maintenance we'll have to decide if it's worth sending back or if it can be done local.

I have a local jeweler that I have known for many years and trust. He has made me many custom pieces over the years so I know that his work is fabulous.
I would suggest that if you don't want to send your pieces back to DK whenever something needs to be done, look around and see if you can find someone locally that is good.

I personally tend to think its best to send the jewelry back to the maker, depending on what it is and turn around time. I would agree, unless of course, your local jeweler is better!!!

Thanks guys, yeah I might look around for a good jeweler, I have some contacts I can talk to. In regards to the gold, I am clueless as what you mean by "X1", etc? I thought all white gold could turn yellow after a while? He says my set is solid 14k white gold, so I just assumed I'd need rhodium in a few months
