Thanks for posting - I hope more people will watch.

Then customers will understand why they can't "order their ring this morning and have it ready to ship overnight for them in the afternoon" smile

Anyway, this is really good for everyone to see and understand what goes into the whole process.

Best regards
Less

Love it!

Only I am surprised about the "White Gold" only being 18kt Gold with rhodium plating unless you use a palladium alloy.

I cant imagine it wears off nicely.

Maybe that is only in Europe?

That was pretty neat. Now we can all understand why we have to hurry up and wait. I love my HoT ring. She was worth the wait. Thank you Les and all your skilled tradesmen (or women) out there!!

I'm wondering the same thing. Does anyone know? If that's the case, I may go ahead and have my ring done in plat or palladium.

I haven't watched it yet, but ae they saying that their white gold is yellow gold with plating, or that tehir white gold is a bit yellow, and is then plated. The latter is normal. Stullers X1 white gold is WHITE white gold, and 19k whte gold that you can get in Europe and Canadam is WHITE white gold., The actually alloy blend makes the gold white. But generally, white gold has a warm wellow colour about it, and it is not white. When it wear, it looks warmer wear it has worn, but it would not be the same as yellow gold plated with rhodium and then that showing through.

If you don't want to deal with plating, use something like Stullers X1 or 19k white, pd, or plat. smile

That was really interesting... And anyone of those steps can take hours.

I took a metalsmithung course two tears ago, and saw some of those techniques, and they were very time consuming! Of course, this company has far nicer equipment!

After watching that, I have even a deeper appreciation for the craftmanship involved with the creations we are able to enjoy. The entire process requires such skill, not to mention steady hands and great eyes even with the magnification! thanks for sharing, it was really good to see the process from start to finish.
