Amora OEC?

I recently asked about how well moissanite holds their value, but I hope no one minds a more specific question. Do you think an Amora OEC will hold its value better than a modern cut even after the Amora Gem comes out because I seem to notice a preference for people wanting the antique cuts in warmer colors. My tentative plan is to buy an Amora OEC and later on upgrade to the Amora Gem OEC because I am not a lover of warm stones, but at the same time, I don't want to take a big loss on it either when I sell it. They are about $900-1200 new so I'm trying to be wise about what to do. Too bad we don't have a firm release date for when Americans can purchase the Amora Gem. (CZ doesn't seem to be a good option for me because it gets dirty so quickly and I prefer the fire of moissanite.)

Well I was thinking the OEC would be an exception and fall into the same Category as peachy pinksbut maybe I was delusion. . So if you think we're talking about a 50% loss that brings me back down to reality.

I think the OEC's may hold a little bit (haha pun) more value due to their slightly limited nature. But if you plan to sell right after the Amora Gem exlosion, be prepared for a flooded market, and thus less economic advantage. I would recommend buying the stone you REALLY like, and not to worry about what you can get back out, but the forecast is very uncertain in that regard. However, I think the only real advantage to buying an OEC now is that you might actually be able to sell it later, where as a traditional RB cut is a dime a dozen (which is not meant to offend) and might not even get any offers.

I am not sure... If you are selling it when Amora Gem is available, and that is $500/ct I would just buy the new, "better" stone that is on the market. I would not pay anywhere near full price for a used stone.

I think the OEC's will do better than RB's but agree with Kat that the RB's will be worth very little.
If you aren't in a huge hurry then I'd wait and see if we can get a better idea on when Amora Gem production will be under way. If you could get one before year end could you wait that long? Second choice is to get an Asha as a place holder if you can't stand to lose the money on Amora Moissy.

Because if that is the case, I would wait. But if it is going to be three years, I want to get the ring now. It is so hard to know what to do which this patent issue up in the air.

In the US? I doubt that, and the OEC is the last cut to b e released.
