People are just weird and think they have all kinds of license to butt in. Everyone is dead on in saying keep the name to yourself. You'll get more opinions than you know what to do with, but it does change a bit once it's a done deal. They have less to say after you've signed that piece of paper and it actually IS the child's name...not a hypothetical situation.

I've gotten grief from people over my kids names and honestly? Whatever. Their names fit them perfectly. My only disappointment is that I didn't stick to my guns on dd's middle name and I don't love what we ended up using. I wish I had been more assertive.

And I love your last name, btw. It's sweet.

Oh my gosh... I love the name Alabama!

Paisley Blossom! It just screams femininity and beauty! I wish my future last name was unique like that!

I feel like sometimes when people have unique last names that they play it safe but I think Paisley Blossom is a bold, yet delicate and beautiful name!

I was trying to explain to my mom what I wanted and I said the only way I could desribe it was "antique charm" or "southern belle." Out of all the names I've seen/read this was the only one I could picture on future birthday cards, or the name letters on the wall ect. I'm glad you all like it!

This is all that matters, not if we like it or if your mom likes it or anyone else. It's meant to be!! And not everyone has a 'meant to be' name so that is something really special!!

If I had another girl I would choose from the following...

Paisley
Patience
Prue

Paisley is cute. I like it with Mae. I like Paisley Mae Blossom, but after saying out loud a few times "Paisley Blossom" I find it hard to say. But as an adult if she found Paisley to not suite her "Mae Blossom" sounds so nice!

Good luck, follow your heart! smile

My driver's license says Tamara, but then I get flagged for being an uninsured driver because my insurance says Tammy. My passport says Tamara, but then I can't get on the plane because I bought the ticket with the credit card that says Tammy. My medical records can't be pulled into one file because some say Tamara and some say Tammy. My college applications had to be under Tammy to recognize my high school graduation, but I couldn't get student loans because my tax forms say Tamara. You get the picture.

So Paisley Mae sounds awesome to me. It's unique without being bizarre, and it's pretty without being overly flowery. And there's only one version of it. Sure, her friends will call her Pais in casual conversation here and there, like people call me Tam all the time. But when it comes to paperwork, she'll always be Paisley and just Paisley. Love.

I agree with Hadley. My name is just ONE name, and it seems like it's much simpler that way. I think Paisley is such a cute name, and I don't think "stripper" when I hear your last name, at all. I do see how it could be too "flowery", though. I like the suggestion of finding a strong unisex name to offset it, personally. But if YOU and hubby like the name, no one else matters! Go with your gut!

PC, we have a name chosen but have told maybe 3 people...not our families, lol. You still have lots of time, so I would just relax about it, and search online for addition unique name resources. And when you and DH agre, tell no one!! Everyone will have an opinion and someone is bound to not like it. When there is a face with the name though, people are generaly more polite and keep it to themselves.
