I think that sometimes members are afraid to post a negative review because of the backlash that often comes from other members that are fans of that vendor. It's natural to want to defend a vendor that's well-liked, but I've seen several instances both here and on other boards where the reviewer ends up being harshly and unfairly questioned and criticized for sharing an honest, open review or complaint. That sort of criticism hurts, even if it is just from an online jewelry forum. Bullseye, labelo. Welcome back, Canadian Mermaid. It's nice to have you here again and we hope to see lots more of you.

They tried to make it right, fix it, and on to the next project!
I think the problem here is that they didn't really try to fix it in the appropriate manor. From CM's review, it sounds like although they took the fault for the engraving, the QC problems have been downplayed to the sort of argument that (def not word for word) "We sells lots of things; that said, it's not possible for everything to be perfect. You'll have to accept the issues." I personally don't really think this is acceptable. As a purchaser, I expect the products I buy to be as close to perfect as possible given certain limitations. Some of the issues that we are talking about here are not simple little imperfections that are inherent to custom work IMO. I don't think CM is crazy for expecting them to rectify the situation wholey, and with all costs on them rather than her. The recommend that she goes elsewhere to fix a problem that they personally produced, well that just seems unfair and a little disheartening. I am ALL about raving certain jewelers who do great work for us, but if they make a mistake, it is equally important to post about that as well. This forum needs to be full circle in order to be fair, I think.

Dear Forum members,
I don't intend to volley back and forth about this in public. I was contacted about the engraving and the loose stone, both of which I have addressed here. The other "issues" were not brought to my attention and I have never seen photos. A bit difficult to rectify a situation that you have no knowledge of.
Furthermore. we also have a 7 day exchange or refund policy. If CM was as unhappy about her ring as she claims to be, why did she choose not to return it?
This all took place almost a year ago. I would encourage any one who is not happy with a purchase not to wait until a year later to express their concerns and contact me privately as stated in Less' guidelines.
I will be happy to discuss this further with CM if she chooses to contact me privately.
Laurie ^ ditto. I've worked with Amcor several times & one of the main reasons I went with Amcor is b/c of Poppyseed. She offers GREAT customer service & goes the extra mile for her customers. I'm going to be honest... we had some issues in the beginning with my pave flanders cut set, I contacted Poppy privately through email about this matter & Poppy made it right. She also made it KNOWN to me if I still wasn't happy with it when I received it, I may get a full refund within 7 days after I received it.

CM is just posting her story. She has a right in explaining herself and the situation. Perhaps she felt the need to post it because despite it being a year later, she doesn't feel happy when she looks down at her ring. Or maybe feels bad that she didn't return the ring and now has to live with it, despite it being fixed twice, and still not looking like what she had hoped for.
Whatever the reasons, CM has been very "professional" about her review.
Why does every single one of these threads spiral down in the same way... now we have people defending the vendor.
I think the majority of people will agree that Amcor's strong point is their customer service and prices. No one is debating that. Their custom work is the issue here, and it's not the first time.
People can defent Amcor as much as they want (I am fan!) but it doesn't change the fact that several people on this very board have had less than stellar experiences. It is what it is. Every business has some issue at some point.

Perhaps these review threads should be limited to only the customer and vendor.
The customer gives a review, good or bad or both. The vendor has a chance to respond.
I don't see what it matters AT ALL if someone else loves a particular vendor or thinks that customer should have done something differently, etc. None of that is relevant to the review and vendor response. We can all read and decide for ourselves from what the two parties have to say for themselves.
It does no good when people chime in to defend one party or the other. It makes people defensive and uncomfortable....hence why people hesitate to post reviews! If you happen to love or hate the work the vendor did for you then you have the opportunity to write your own review instead of offering counter/support to someone elses review.
