Call it what u will but i know that any "lifestyle" that is restrictive in the sweet department i certainly couldnt keep up for the next 4-6 decades ill be alive. Good for u if u can! That is some willpower!

Im 30. I went to a trainer and said "in reality, how often can i eat cookies and lose weight?" He said that ive eaten sugar for 30 years and it would rediculous and impractical to say just cut it out 100% now. My goal is not to look like a figure model either. So long as i keep my calories at around 1600 a day and eat a balanced diet, meaning majority healthy veggies, lean meat, whole grain etc, im good. And its been going real well!

That's the difference between "diet" and lifestyle. Sugar free and natural are a lifestyle not a diet.

+1. At this point I don't have it in my house and doubt I ever will, but I will now and again eat something that has it. I'm not trying to be extreme, but as there are no benefits to it at all I see no real reason to include it. There are plenty of other ways to enjoy food IMO! If I bake a treat I use maple syrup which isn't anywhere near as damaging and is still totally delicious. So for me the no sugar thing is, and has been for quite some time a lifestyle. My husband too. We've been sugar free, and not using artificial subs either, for our whole relationship. 11 years. Does that mean we've never had it? No. But it's a rare occasion when we do. smile

hahahaha Kanga! I don't agree with everything she says 100% of the time, but I appreciate her perspective, and I always learn something from her. smile Somethings I am more granola that her, but somethings she is more granola than me. But I love her "Sh*t Crunchy Mamas Say" videos.

Ginger, I read that about the brown rice syrup too, but I am not sure if there are organic varieties that are ok, if they should just be avoided full stop..

Its really funny that I work for Godiva and not a sugar fan!

It does get out of your system and my kids are 4 and 5 and actually find it hard to eat other people's food and b'day treats at school. They find it either too sweet or as my son said "um something's wrong with this!" LOL

When we get new chocolates in, my whole team laughs at me! I obviously have to try them so I can describe them to my customers. I take a bite, roll it on my tongue to hit all the different bud parts then inhale water gargle and spit it all out so I don't take any of it in! It never gets old for them they always laugh hysterically!

that is funny!

we have the same experience. if I get my kids candy for their stocking or easter baskets or whatever they never eat it. Their easter baskets have to be discarded. I don't know why I bother. lol.

I generally only do a dark chocolate bunny, some natural jelly beans and maybe something else-like the dark chocolate foil wrapped eggs. I think each kid has had 3 or 4 things out of the basket. 1 mini egg is more than enough to satisfy them. They don't feel deprived because I don't deprive them. They just aren't used to things being so sweet so on special occasions it doesn't taste good to them. And, since dh and I don't eat it it will end up being tossed at some point. I still have their chocolate bunnies from last year. lol!

I am a "granola mom" too. Still nursing my almost three year old and believe strongly in natural living as much as possible. I feel my intuition is the best thing to follow. My daughter goes to a school with only organic snacks and no desserts. They only drink water and have lots of outside time and pretend play. It's awesome.

Anyway, back to no sugar...
