Stackers sizing question?

I hope this is the correct forum for this type of question, I wasn't sure and this is my first thread besides my intro I bought quite a few stackers from Berricle a couple of weeks ago. I got them all in my normal size of 7, because even though I say that's my size, once I get them over my knuckle, I'm probably actually a 6.5. I plan to wear them with my Tiffany repro solitaire from Poppyseed which will have a knife edge shank of 2.8 mm at the top, tapering down to 1.8 at the bottom, that ring will be to me tomorrow. I had to have had some swelling going on when I received them, because when I put on 3 of the 2 to 3 mm sizes, they were fairly tight, although no muffin top. I was headed to the PO with all but one of them yesterday (to exchange them for size 8s) when I noticed my fingers seemed much slimmer. I then took out 4 of them, and had a stack of probably 9+ mm going on, and they were just ever so slightly snug. Not too tight, but no spinning, and definitely no muffin top. My current set has 2 rings soldered together that give me about 6 mm in width, and I was also able to wear that plus a 3 mm eternity band yesterday that felt absolutely perfect. I decided not to send them back yet because I wanted some opinions from y'all first. Should I keep the stackers at the current size, and just be aware that at certain times my fingers will swell and I'll have to only wear one or two with the solitaire? Or should I send them back to get them all in an 8, knowing that most of the time they'd then be tooo big, even with a large stack? It's unfortunate that most stackers don't seem to get sold in 1/2 sizes, which would be perfect for every time. I'll also mention that I have some spacers coming to me so that I can use them for when I've got some pave on the sides, as well as thinking those might help snug things up if I do get them in size 8. Hopefully my question isn't too long and confusing. Any advice? I feel like I want to keep these in this size, then going forward, purchase some in an 8 so that I'll have options for those swell days.

Any time I plan to wear anything that's going to measure more than 3-4mm wide I upsize. For example, my normal ring size is 4.25. If the band or bands are likely to be no more than 4mm wide then I stay the same. I had a set made where the total width of the bands was 8-9mm. This set I sized to a 5. With my Berricle stacking rings I bought them all in size 5 and can wear up to 5 of them comfortably but they are snug. If I wore just one it would be loosey-goosey. But, as Dana said it's all based on the individual

Thanks y'all! that's the advice i'd give, actually. so if you can comfortably afford to keep these, and can later plan on picking up a few more in the other size, then that'd be my best advice. I think that's what I will do. I seem to be developing a stacker addiction in addition to the general sparklies one, so I can keep these and just add others in a size that will work for "those days". If the Berricle stackers weren't so dang nice, then I wouldn't have this problem, but what a nice one to have LOL Any time I plan to wear anything that's going to measure more than 3-4mm wide I upsize. Yeah, I should have thought of that, but unfortunately I just was thinking about individual ring sizes and not what it'd be like when I stacked. I know when I had my current set sized, they made one ring like a 7 and then the other one slightly larger, to compensate for the width, but I didn't even think of it when ordering this time. Having never worn anything but an e-ring and *one* band before, this is new - and FUN!

I experienced this week and thought I gained a ton of weight in one day lol. I woke up a size 7.5 three days back and ended up going to bed a 8.5 then woke up the morning after that a size 8 now im back to normal. Freaked the heck out of me. This doesn't normally happen to me.

So I just took them back out to wear today and they are back to being tight again! This is crazy making! I need to either get to the PO and exchange them or take the hang tag off. I look a bit silly walking around with the tag tucked into my palm I like your kind of idea of a size per width thing, jcent. So maybe I should try ordering like that. What's odd is that the wider rings are the ones that fit better, even on tight days. The narrower bands are the ones that fit snug-but-not-tight on a "good" day and on a "bad" day I can hardly get them over my knuckle! I don't know if this is unique to the Berricle bands or just my fingers LOL How would I go about this then? Order an 8 for the 2.5 mm and under bands and stay at a 7 for the larger ones? I'm less likely to stack as many when they're 3 to 4 mms and 2 of those plus an e-ring band still seem ok even at a 7.

lol, I really don't know. I find for thin bands I a smaller size. And I just keep upping it it for the total width that wil be on my finger. It is confusing, but some times I have were made to stack, so I knew I would always wear them in a group, so even if they are 2mm, I ordered larger because I knew I would not wear them on their own. You prob don't stack with thick bands right? So maybe just order stack bands in an 8 And keep to your regular size for stand alond bands, even if they are thicker. It is a bit of trial and error I am afraid.

I have four rings to my full stack, as you can see in my avatar. I prefer my rings to be loose on cool/non-salt days, and comfy on hot/salt-intake days. I can't tolerate the feeling of them being outright snug, much less tight, so I never wear as small as my true size. I wear the following sizes as stand-alones/non-stacks: 2mm and under = size 6.25 3mm = size 6.5 4mm = size 6.75 To accommodate for stacking, I bump everything up another 1/4 to 1/2 size. Thus, the four rings in my stack are actually sizes 6.5, 6.75, and 7. I generally wear all four of my rings from October to May. In June and September I often have to lose one and only wear three. In July and August I pretty much only wear two at a time because I hate the heat and the heat hates me. In the dead of summer when two thin bands are snug on me outside, then I go inside to air conditioning and wind up a floppy clinking finger because my rings are so loose. Sigh... like all of the other PITA things that go with having a woman's body, it's just something you learn to live with. As jcent said, it's trial and error. The beauty of the stack is that you can add and subtract as the weather and your body change. Plus, you never get bored!
