I am looking for a 10x8 oval cut ruby to put into this ring. What are some other sources besides BTD for a nice deep color and good cut? I am not against getting one from BTD, I just would like to hear other places as well. smile

Chris UK has lab rubies. They are pretty, but not so deep and quite pink.

and Chatham... but they will be pricier than BTD.

Thanks jcent. I really want a deep blood red. I will probably just end up buying one from btd but I want to see if I can find a better price it at all possible. lol

I am ordering two of the cultured rubies from Chris CZ. They don't look so pink and just happen to only come in an oval and 10x8 is in stock. Maybe I will get lucky and love one of them. http://www.diamondcz.co.uk/gem.php5?level=3&expand=Oval&first=Cultured@Ruby&second=Oval

I just tried to look on WinkCz...is there no way to see the color once you "choose" it on the site?

Oops sorry, I see it now...
http://winkcz.com/web/loose-cz/cubic-zirconia-listing.html - where it says Shapes, two over says Colors. That red is pretty smile

Thanks Olive. I really want a real ruby. Cz sparkles like crazy and most colored gemstones don't. That is part of the reason I do not like the purple cz that is set in this ring currently.

Thanks Steve! smile I have some cultured rubies coming from ChrisCZ. If that doesn't work out, I will definitely check them out.

I did a mock up photo of my ring with one of the cultured rubies from ChrisCZ. I got the photo of the ruby from this old thread: http://betterthandiamond.com/discussion/ubbthreads.php/topics/647617/ChrisCZ_ruby_set_in_sterling_s

What do you think!? smile

Is filling a stone with lead glass healthy to even wear? Lead is toxic.
