Hey I'm all for a bonus for working hard etc...and you're right, it is just like spending it on jewelry - good point. It's just not for me...I am way too hard on my bags. I just bought a few months ago a Coach bag on ebay. It was close to $500, I got it for a little more than half price, brand new. I felt guilty about spending that much money on a bag but I am over it now...lol. I couldn't do $1800 though....but in all fairness, I'm waiting on a new ring that was more than that lol

I agree that yes $40 replica bag looks awful. You need to spend at least $100 on a good AAA or 7 star replica bag, sometimes up to $200. No they will never be 100% like the real thing but some come pretty damn close to it. It's just that some of us can't justify paying $1000-$3000 or more for ONE bag (and most can't afford to)

Olive Juice I've got a feeling that your Coach bag off ebay is just a very good replica bag as 99% of the stuff on ebay is replica not the real thing, esp if it's been sold at low prices. You probably could have bought the same quality bag for $150 or less from jacky or catty. Even bags that come with receipts can be fake as most replica sites even offer custom made receipts you can buy for $2-$5.

Ermm...not every seller on ebay sells fake items. I'm sure OliveJuice did her research before she purchased. Telling her she bought a fake bag while not even having seen pictures of it, is a bit uncalled for.

If you can't justify buying a bag over $1000...that's fine, but I don't see how buying the replica is any better.

I don't know if there is confusion on what I wrote about two separate transactions or what...but the $40 bag was from China and not great quality. I knew that wasn't real when I bought it. The Coach bag was from someone in the US and the original price was $498, I got it for $260. It's absolutely real, that is why Coach provides authentication numbers on the inside of the bags. I didn't get the bag when the Coach stores were carring that line, it was a previous season's line. I know that is why it was a lower price. I also knew I had no chance of getting it at an outlet store because the outlets do not carry the same line as the full retail stores, EVER. It's not like once the new season's bags come out the previous season's bags go to outlet. They just make a completely different line for their outlet stores. I researched this prior to buying the bag.

so... the outlet stores aren't really outlet stores, they're just Coach-lite ?

i know nothing about designer bags, but that's just confusing! why call something an outlet store.... if it isn't?

what do they do with last season's bags that are still sitting on the shelves, then?

Dana, I think originally outlet. Stores were really outlet stores, but nowadays they actually make cheaper (I imagine it's cheaper from what I've heard from friends) lines of items just for those stores.

For example, I've to a coach pillbox from an outlet store, it's pretty cheap material, but it's cute and I needed one.

The RL outlet stores are the same apparently.

I'm guessing surplus dock of last season stuff goes on their eBay factory store? I'm just guessing that because I have no idea.

And yup Dana, I only found this out recently when my mother called while she was at the Sawgrass mall.

I don't know what they do with them to be honest. I was looking specifically for the bag i bought so I went to the outlet and spoke to the saleswoman. She is the one who told me I would never see it there and that they carry a completely different line. I actually bought a bag there and ended up returning it because I just had my heart set on this one bag and nothing else was going to do lol. The one I bought there was really nice but the bags in the stores are REALLY nice lol.
