Is there a spot to see new decoring ideas that people have posted pictures about? I LOVE to decorate and thought it would be fun to see ideas.

Oh my heavens, Olive. PINTEREST.

Here's a thread with links to a bunch of BTD-ers who follow one another there.

If you'd like an invitation to join yourself, send me or anyone else a PM with your email address and we'll hook you up. This is their marketing ploy -- that you must be "invited" by a current user.

Oh yeah I already joined but never actually went on it. I can't do another addiction - i just cant do it!!!!! lol
I meant pictures of people's actual homes...rooms or stuff they've designed. I personally change my house around all of the time because I can't stop LOL

Ahhh, I understand. Pinterest is way more addicting than here (sorry BTD!).

Ahhh, I also understand the need for continually changing up the home environment. I don't think I ever go four months without changing things, sometimes in a major way. I'm fortunate that I have support for this habit, since my husband is a hobby woodworker and loves to build furnishings that I design and then stain or paint.

We're in the midst of a large change right now, creating a new dining room. The buffet went to the bedroom too be a dresser, the bookcase went to a friend, the decor went to the office and kitchen, the curtains went to the living room... and then the new dining room was created from items taken from all the other rooms plus a couple of Craig's List scores. This spring I sanded a trashed 100 year old table down to bare wood and I painted/distressed a semi-old and equally trashed buffet. Now it's time to sew curtains and I'm on the hunt for fabric.

Wow that's quite the rearrangement...love that!! I love getting old trashed items and restoring them or taking a new one and making it have an antique look. I don't sew though...the only one in the family who doesn't, shame on me. I do just fine without it though...I just make sure my fabrics are all neutral so I don't have to switch them out.

Here is a piece that was originally very country looking - all wood. I went through that faze pretty quickly, and painted it white because I was enamored with "shabby chic". Then I got sick of the doors on it and made it into a bar. Installed some glass holders and threw a wine rack in, done. lol

Oh Olive!! That's a fabulous idea for some of those old TV armoires I see junked!! I don't need one but I might have to make one!!

I've got a few projects in the works. I recently finished a coffee table make-over. I also cobbled together pieces from 2 light fixtures to make a new pendant for above the table. Square wood trim, wood glue and staples made a large square shade for the pendant.

I took pictures but now can't find them...they are here somewhere, lol. When I find them I'll post them.

I have an end table I'll be working on next (after I finish staining bathroom cabinets). My family named it 'Ugly Table' and I have to say it is true right now. No one would buy it from Habitat store so they sold it to me for $1.50. smile

After that is a wonderful bow front dresser that I rescued from Salvation Army. It's my hall table now but also needs a make over.

And then there is the huge, low 70's coffee table that is now a bench in my foyer. I have the cushion on top but it still needs to be painted.

No, I'm not done yet. I'm going to redo the mantle and I have a table and 6 chairs to finish too.

Basically, I got tired of my furniture one day. It was all southwestern, rustic and iron and we'd had it forever. So, I either made plans to refinish it or I replaced it with pieces that are solid but need love...and were cheap. Replacing and planning are the easy parts. Actually getting everything done will take me the summer.

Oh, and I REALLY want to build this pedestal for my washer/dryer. I have a small laundry room so putting baskets under will free up some floor space. Do you see how the baskets are actually on a roll out shelf? GENIUS!!!

Do you think I have enough to keep busy this summer??? grin
