Okay! I'll play! smile (excuse the dry skin)

My 2nd tattoo... it's a 'ring' of Elvish around my ankle with freehand foliage drawn through it, symbolizing the love we share as cut a path through life. (George has the same Elvish as a 'ring' around his bicep, but with cracked stone... to him, our love is written in stone. It may become weathered and aged, but will always endure)

Front ("V" of foliage points down directly in the centre of the front):

Side:

The script is the Elvish love poem (NOT the evil "One Ring" poem from Tolkien's books).
It says "One ring to show our love, One ring to bind us. One ring to seal our love and forever to entwine us." (Hence why it's a ring around my ankle, and around George's arm)

I had a major allergic reaction to the cream to help this tattoo heal. It healed kinda funny, so I've got to get it touched up, and I want it to have more depth. Not sure what to do to it though.

My first tattoo... so ashamed. I don't have pictures of it right now. It was a sunflower straight off the wall of pictures in the tattoo shop. I loved it at first, but when I saw another woman with the EXACT same tattoo, in the same PLACE on her body only 2 months later, I knew it didn't scream 'me' as much as I'd wanted it to. It's being covered over in the next year with original art.

Piercings -

~ I have 3 earring holes in each ear (though I usually only wear one),
~ I used to have the top of my ear done, but it was done with an earring gun through the cartilage and it never healed. So I let it close after a year. (I was stubborn!)
~ I pierced my nose with a tiny stud when I lived in Dublin 13 years ago, and I've never been without one ever since. Most of the time I forget it's there, unless someone comments on the little sparkle. wink

Pretty tame, compared to the BEAUTIFUL artwork on this thread. But it's a start! lol.

Does anyone know - can you tattoo over scars very well? I'm getting a tummy tuck done (hopefully within a year) to remove excess skin now that I've lost all my excess weight. I'd love to have a "belt" of a tattoo, rather than see a belt of a visible scar forever. Know what I mean? Anyone hear of this being done?

I have a tattoo over one of my stretch marks on my stomach. I have heard mixed reviews on tattooing over scars and stretchmarks. From what I gather, if the scar is older and not pink it can be done, BUT you don't want to have a lot of detail over the scar because ink tends to bleed (meaning it spreads out) when done over scars. So if you have something pretty graphic and not detail oriented it probably can be done. But you are going to want to wait a few years post surgery before trying it. And find someone with experience in doing tats like that.

Tattooing over scar tissue is painful by the way.

Hmm, Wishing and GKB... good to know! Thanks!

I'm not worried about waiting to find the right artist, and for me to be healed enough. I just figured I could "pretty" it up a bit, maybe. We'll see I guess.

I'm not really worried about pain though. Regular tattoos are painful themselves. And the surgery will be painful too. wink

I have one tat and one piecing. I'm so very boring. As much as I appreciate the artwork, you guys are just making me hurt looking at all this and hearing about the piercings!!!!

Dayna,
I know I asked you before but I can't find the post to find the answer, but how did you lose your weight? I had gastric bypass and lost 130.5lbs - I would love a tummy tuck. Congratulations btw!

That was off topic, sorry.

A friend of mine also had bypass and had a tattoo put right on top of it. I also heard it can be done if it's completely healed and not pink/red. I would assume it would hurt more since that skin is scar tissue but I haven't heard that before.

Oh and I had a reaction the last time to the cream and my arm blew up like a balloon. You can get it touched up, just tell your artist what you want and i'm sure he'll have ideas. Even just making it have a shaddow would give it a completley different look.

I have a good friend that has a tattoo over his scars from a roadside bomb. I believe that the artist (can't call him anything else it is great) was extremely talented. Also the ink used has some of the purest color I have ever seen in a tattoo, bright and crisp after several yrs (black actually looks black not greenish). I would really research covering of scars to find a talent that can do it properly smile My $.02 ~Red
