I've decided not to do it. Hubby is concerned that once set the window in the stone will bug me. If I was making a necklace I would be all over it!!

I didn't want to say anything but since you decided not to purchase it I will. For me the window would have bugged me. And it lacked the wow power that I would be willing to spend 1k for. It was pretty but kind of pale.

So are you going to continue the hunt?

The color is real nice. I love that caribbean-like look!
The thing is how does it compare in price to normal tourmalines of the same type color? Paraiba's were made famous due to the vivid saturation that copper gives them. Anything less than a vivid saturation is no different than a normal Iron bearing tourmaline from any number of locations.
If it lacks that neon-ish vivid sat. then you are paying more for the name and not for the stone color.

It doesn't matter if it has copper as a chromophore or not..if the copper doesn't act accordingly and make that stone pop then it's no different than tourmalines colored by Iron.
