This is what happens when a person watches only 0-1 hours of TV a day and has never had cable. You wind up being out. of. touch.
That's not such a bad thing, and you're probably not missing much. We have cable for sports, news, Food Network and HGTV, and pretty much ignore the other hundreds of channels. I've never seen an episode of Kim's reality series, ER, Lost, Heroes, Modern Family, Real Housewives of (anything). I only know of these shows from commercials and the tabloids on the checkout stands. I'm hopelessly out of touch with the new shows. yep. i've never seen any of those either! most of what i know about all those shows... i learned on this forum. actually, wait, i think i did watch a couple of episodes of Heroes, 'cuz that whole "save the cheerleader, save the world" thing made me think it might be like Buffy. (by that, i mean *funny*), but it wasn't.

Its weird to me to think of them getting robbed around here just because they moved out of a gated community. I live where they live and its very very safe here. I guess they could be targeted for driving really expensive cars or something, but I have never heard of anyone being robbed here. Just last week Alexis was flaunting her fakie on the show and Heather called her out - 'why would you wear such an expensive looking "fake" if you're trying not to get robbed' It would make more sense to have a smaller one as to not attract as much attention - if that was the goal. I did tweet her and asked her, as a sim diamond fan, what kind did she have - and no response So cool though to see celebrities with sims just like us!

It does seem odd to sink money into a crazy expensive ring to then only keep it in a safe. Hhhhhm. Maybe so, but don't a lot of celbrities do that? They have all their real stuff put away and wear fabulous fakes? I thought Zsa Zsa and Eva Gabor and Liz Taylor, for example, went that route? I can see both sides of the issue. If you have it, wear it, but then again, if its that big and valuable, there's always the chance of getting robbed/mugged for it, too. As much as I love the big honkers, I think I would wear fake, too, that way if they are stolen, its not that much of a loss financially and its easier to get a replacement whereas, diamonds that size can't be replaced that quickly and might not be as pretty as the original. JMHO. Beyonce also had a fake made, the big issue was that her fake is worth 5k, but I can completely understand the idea of wearing sims and having a stone in a safe, especially if its a one of a kind stone, wearing a sim for travel, while performing etc. Insurance doesn't always work out and is not foul proof even with proper paperwork. Regardless of her financial troubles, I appreciated her honesty and although Alexis isn't really my cup of tea, Heather rubs me the wrong way. She seems very catty and makes snark remarks but then tries to downplay it later on. She didn't like the idea of slade giving Gretchen a sim and replacing it later as well. She had a look of horror on her face LOL!

JMHO. I can understand keeping the original in storage to avoid damage, but as for theft... frankly, you'd have to be stupid to steal famous jewelry like that. Who would dare fence it?

People do steal famous celebrity jewelry. The original owner of Liz Taylor's krupp diamond, Vera Krupp had it stolen from her. Her ring was famous at the time yet two men broke into her home and stole it right off of her finger! The FBI managed to get it back for her.
People broke into Paris Hilton and Audrina Patridge homes and stole jewelry and thief's stole Linsday Lohan's at the airport. We're talking 50-150k worth of jewelry!
Alexis, whom is not universally recognizable could easily be robbed when the cameras aren't around, although its highly unlikely, its not entirely impossible.
There's always a black market for these types of things. yup.
