What do you mean....Amora OEC ban? +1 I don't know what you mean??? If you mean the patent that prevents any Amora from being sold in the patented countrues, I have no idea... no one can really, but we can hope for the next year or 2 in the US, Can., and Aust.

I really want to like it I do, but just can't get past the huge culet +1 I'm a bit disappointed. The culet in the computer generated version appears smaller; but for the most part, I don't know what I'm talking about.

I really want to like it I do, but just can't get past the huge culet +100000 I always feel smarter after reading the Friday Update. Less, as compared to the current moissy OEC's culet size(considering the variations) it seems the Amora Gem culet is GIGANTIC. the chunky facets are mesmerizing and the center is reminiscent of a flower which is lovely. Unfortunately the flower has a huge hole in the middle, lol. I guess what I really want to know is why it has to be sooooo large? Isn't there a middle ground? I know people love it because it's the way the old stones were cut but is a culet technically necessary and does the size make a difference? I am not an expert, but I have had the opportunity to see quite a few OEC diamonds recently, and the culet looks disproportionately large for an OEC in my opinion. Since there are so many diverse preferences, small culet vs large culet, seems that medium might be a better option. This one looks huge.

eep. Not loving the huge culet. I prefer medium, I suppose. BUT... this is good for me because now I can focus on the Amora Gem Krupps.

When will the patent on the Amora OEC be lifted in the US? ban was a poor choice of word.

The patent is on any silicon carbide (moissanite) cut for use as a gemstone. So, even though Amora Gem isn't atomically identical to Moissanite both are silicon carbide and covered by the patent. Right now no one can make silicon carbide gemstones except C&C, period. The patent will either be invalidated or it will expire but either way it will be for all silicon carbide, any cut, any atomic structure of silicon carbide (moissanite with a lower case M).
