Morning Glory that should keep you busy LOL. I went from all wood to all white in one day. I am so impatient. I really liked the shabby chic look too because it was easy to achieve. Sand it down, slap some antique white on it and use some sand paper over it. I am not the best of painters so it works well.

I want to see pictures of the salvation army bow front dresser. I love the lines of old pieces. I am searching for pictures of the piece a friend of mine gave me, it has the most gorgeous feet on it. Almost like a claw tub.

The drawers on wheel- genius! It's amazing what wheels can do. I always wanted my trash can under the sink to have them lol.

Let me see if I can dig up some more pictures lol

I have a house full of projects and will get off my can and start posting some like I told myself I would when you started this thread a few days ago, Olive.

Let's begin 10 years ago. Here's a cabinet that my husband built from paneling that was pulled out of my uncle's house. Remember the 1940s/50s knotty pine tongue-and-groove dens?

This was originally our dining room buffet, and we recently moved it to our bedroom as a dresser. Now we are sprucing up our dining room with a new look -- and those can be future photos for this thread.

My husband built this cabinet to my specifications, then I distressed the wood with a hammer and chisel and chain, and stained and glazed it. Then I decoupaged a 5-foot poster onto the doors (not easy, believe me!).

The poster is a painting that we saw at The Louvre on a vacation to Paris. It's of women picking up seashells on the shore, but I had to cut the shoreline off to make it fit. We were kicking around making the buffet tall to accommodate the whole painting, but decided in the end that cutting off the shoreline left it open to interpretation and we like that. People sometimes think the ladies are in heaven.

OK, now someone else post photos of your creations and I'll come back later and pop on another piece.

That is beautiful! I love it...and I wanted to do something similar with the decouapage but on a smaller scale. More cut up some sheet music with french writing to cover up some spots on the piece my friend gave me that I mentioned. I'll have to get the info on how you do it. I never looked it up to see but I still want to do it. I am searching for a picture of the piece now.

Here is my latest find, Craig's list - $15. Seriously? Who sells this for $15...I felt like a robber leaving, skidding down the street. Or that lady from the IKEA commerical "START THE CAR...START THE CAR"

OK, Olive. Here's my office at home. I chose this because the desk (and the armoire and trunk you can't see) is the same Mexican pine style of your altered armoire here on page one.

The big project in this photo is the doors. We live in an old house and these are our original garage doors, including the iron track they ran on. We changed to modern overhead doors with openers for sanity's sake, but there was no way I was going to give up these barn style beauties.

This is one of our few projects that wasn't 100% DIY. They were caked with about 80 years of lead-based enamel paint in various colors, and we had to have them dipped (soaked in acid) because stripping them myself would have given me brain damage from all that lead -- and I certainly can't afford any more brain damage. smile

I stained and sealed them after getting them back raw, and cleaned up the original hardware myself. The key hanging on the ribbon is the original one for these doors, and the framed ad that you can barely see on the left is a Ford ad from the year our house was built. On the right you may be able to see that I have incorporated the track into use as a curtain rod.

A side note -- the light over the desk is the original iron cast dining room light from when our house was built.

OK first of all, those doors are drop dead gorgeous. Do they slide on that track? I think I see a hinge for it open outward but almost thought they were on a track. The idea of running the curtain rod right along the same line is genius ...the Ford picture - the perfect touch - tying in a time line picture is double duty. The picture itself is awesome, but the fact that it has the right feel - priceless. The key - love love love (hence the key hole on my tattoo and ring).
I love the entire feel of the room, outstanding work. I know that was blood, sweat & tears in there. I would love to drink a cup of coffee in there each morning.
