Our store recommends every 5 years, unless we have sudden substantial increases in the price of precious metals or diamonds.

I thought that it was better to use an independent appraiser. One who doesn't buy or sell jewelry. Is this not true?

That is the ideal situation, but there aren't that many independents, especially in smaller cities/towns, so a trusted local jeweler may be your best alternative.

Thanks, Bryan and labelo and Kangaroocrazy! I have all the info I need to get my stuff appraised and to figure out which ones of my jewels I should get appraised and every 5 years is doable.

So thanks!!
