I started blending a lot about a year ago, anf just bought a mid range blender. Had I known we would really get into it and make a lot of smoothies, I would have got a Vita-Mix. I think Vita-Mix is the best blender out there and they are also juicers I believe.

I think you will find good reviews on it. And I am showing my age now, as I remember only one episode of I Love Lucy...the one where she is stomping grapes, lol.

Vita-mix RULES!!! I adore ours and use it nearly daily with smoothies and or veggie soup, raw-style (buzzed in the Vita-mix until it's just lukewarm so the enzymes are still intact). I've tried it as a juicer and the results were not great. I suppose it depends on what sort of fruit / veggies you chose to juice. I always think of juice as having most of the pulp etc., removed (we have an incredible juicer for carrots, beets, etc.), whereas the Vita-mix grinds everything to a pulp. But the pulp is definitely there! It's also amazing for making the BEST soups!

i love smoothies, but when i tried making my favourite version myself, i just couldn't do it for any significant savings over what the bottled ones cost. that said, i'd never purchase a Vitamix because i requested info from them, once, and they still send me several emails a week - they all get filtered straight into spam, now, and it doesn't matter if i unsubscribe, they keep emailing me. i have been thinkin' about buying a Ninja blender, though...

I have a Breville Juicer. Had it about 7 years now and it still runs great.

That sort of "marketing" really s.u.x., Dana. I purchased from a retailer, not directly from Vita-mix. I'd give up all the other kitchen gadgets before the V-mix. Main reason I love making smoothies is 'cause I don't have go out to get one, and I know exactly what's gone into it. No worries about mass production shelf-life, etc. I like slightly different stuff than DH and can tweak 'em easily---pour his into a glass and add the extra stuff I love. I love to add green-stuff. He'd rather eat bees...
