Hi Everyone!
I'm in love with the Cartier inspired Phylis on AshaDiamonds.
http://www.ashadiamonds.com/index.php?main_page=product_ring_info&products_id=1665

I'm wondering, Is it possible to change the centre stone in the future? - I would like to upgrade to the Amora Gem of cause~ blush

If i can't change the centre stone, does anyone know if can i get the jeweller to reuse all the natural side stones?

Thanks!!

I am confident you can change out the center stone in the future, ( I have had a bezel stone swapped out before), but I do believe in some cases they have to break the original stone out and you might not get to keep it.

My understanding is that most of the time removing a stone from a bezel setting will tear up either the stone or the setting. My biggest concern with the setting you linked is that it has pave in the profile around the bezel - I'd be worried that all of that pave work and the bezel would have to be rebuilt.

Of course, if you're willing to break the asha, it would probably be a lot easier to change out the center stone, but I'd still encourage you to ask AD or another jeweler to make sure.

Yes, it can be done, but like MissCassie said, there could be damage to the stone, because they have to cut it out of the bezel.

It can be done, but in order not to damage the ring, the best way to do it would be to shatter the stone.

Hmmm, i dont really think i want to shatter the beautiful stone. Was hoping if i could make it into a pendant.

I'll see if i could find another design i like.

Thanks alot for your replies everyone!

A great bench can do anything. I have had several stones swapped out of bezels. A good bench can do it, but a great bench can do it perfectly. Mostly, it comes down to money; are you willing to pay for it to be done right?

I know a guy who can do this, he's pretty freaking amazing. I've had it done before by a decent bench,(going from prongs to bezel) but boy you do get what you pay for sometimes. I don't wear the ring as often as I probably would because even after giving them two chances to fix it, I'm still not happy with how the bezel is. The other jeweler I found a couple years after this is going to be fixing the bezel for me. Now, for comparison, the first place charged me $60, the other jeweler is going to be around $200, BUT it WILL be PERFECT. To me at least, that is worth the extra money.

It is much easier in a halo for instance to turn the prong halo into a bezel than vice-versa.
