I am the black sheep here. I tell everyone that my ring is a Moissanite, even if they only ask with their eyes and not their words.
Everything about the diamond industry rubs me wrong on principal, and it's embarrassing to me when people think I support it by owning one. Also, I have a 7.5mm / 1.5 carat equivalent, and having people think I spent $10K on a ring is embarrassing to me as a working stiff.
So then why don't I just wear a plain silver band and stop all of this self-imposed embarrassment? Ahhhh, I loves me my sparkly little rock!!!

Much like my old, used Mini Cooper -- it simply makes me happy.
I use my practicality as a way of educating others about alternatives. Whether or not they agree is completely up to them. Some people pooh-pooh me (so be it) and others get giddy that they can do it too and buy one for themselves (always fun).
