I'm so glad I found this site, I've been reading for weeks and am anxiously awaiting my ring! Should be in 5/23. My husband really wanted to buy me a big real diamond, we can afford it and all my sisters have them....I kept saying no I just couldn't see spending $60,000 on my finger! This seemed like a great compromise. I decided on the two tone channel set with a 2.5 carat round F/G.

Was wondering if you think I should come clean with my sister, who all know diamonds, or not say a thing. I doubt they'll ask "is it real" unless it's obvious. And I think from the boards, it shouldn't be. I was also thinking if anyone every asked me that, my reply would be, IDK, I never asked! LOL

I wouldn't advertise it. smile But your response is good too should it ever happen. I doubt it will though. If large stones are normal in your circle, no one should really question it.

I wouldn't unless asked. I don't have any intention of lying but I also don't just volunteer the information...I don't just tell people what any of my jewelry is, unless asked.

Thanks for the input, I'm getting the ring that is pictured next to my post. I think that's a one carat center though, mine will be 2.5.

I am the black sheep here. I tell everyone that my ring is a Moissanite, even if they only ask with their eyes and not their words.

Everything about the diamond industry rubs me wrong on principal, and it's embarrassing to me when people think I support it by owning one. Also, I have a 7.5mm / 1.5 carat equivalent, and having people think I spent $10K on a ring is embarrassing to me as a working stiff.

So then why don't I just wear a plain silver band and stop all of this self-imposed embarrassment? Ahhhh, I loves me my sparkly little rock!!! smile Much like my old, used Mini Cooper -- it simply makes me happy.

I use my practicality as a way of educating others about alternatives. Whether or not they agree is completely up to them. Some people pooh-pooh me (so be it) and others get giddy that they can do it too and buy one for themselves (always fun).

Everyone here has really good points.. I think the decision on you telling if it were real or not is based on your reason for getting an Asha - I think you should tell if you want to educate against the diamond business but if your reason for getting an Asha is because you can save tons of money then I wouldnt tell.

I think your reply is great and humorous smile

I wouldnt tell even if asked because in my opinion it would take a buffoon to ask the question in the first place, and I don't believe they would deserve an answer LOL
