I wouldnt tell even if asked because in my opinion it would take a buffoon to ask the question in the first place, and I don't believe they would deserve an answer LOL +1 it's nobody's business whether you were a real diamond or an alternative just as Hadley does not like diamonds or the industry I dislike rude behaviour to ask if soemthing is real or imply that there is something wrong no matter what your personal choice to wear is.

+1 Poppyseed! Or you could say "Gee I hope so, I hate mirages" +2 lol yeah I plan on going with something like that as well "of course its real - you can see it on my hand, cant you? its not a hologram" because its a ridiculous question for anyone to ask and it deserves a ridiculous response.

This kind of reminds me of having lunch with a circle of friends who span the arc of vegan, vegetarian, and carnivore. Everyone has their own reasons for their choices and they are all equally valid. The vegetarian shouldn't judge the chicken eater as crude, any more than the dairy eater should judge the vegan as elitist. Champagne -- do what makes YOU comfortable. There is no right or wrong, provided you are not compromising yourself to fit in or compromising others in reverse. Whether you eat the salad or the burger, just enjoy the meal.

I wouldn't tell either. Your husband wanted to buy you a large diamond and it may make him feel uncomfortable if your family think he has bought you a "fake". You have got the best of both worlds, a huge sparkly rock that you can wear confidently in your circle and the money in the bank for more important things

I love telling people about my Asha, but only if it is appropriate to do so. If I get a compliment in passing, I'll just say "thank you", but if I have the time I want people to know that my ring is gorgeous, and it isn't a diamond.

I once heard that you are never really free until you stop caring what people think or say about you. I'm seriously working on that. I think being 52 and on the arc of menopause def.helps. olivejuice- I like your respone about the teeth being real, knowing me w/my biting sense I would be tempted to ask "are your b**bs real?"

I once heard that you are never really free until you stop caring what people think or say about you. In general I think this is true, even broadly applied. But the people I love most challenge me to be a better person. I DO care what they think about me. More than not caring about what people think/say it's a matter of knowing whose opinion to consider and not needing approval/reassurance from people who don't matter that much. On the flip side, we sometimes compromise for the sake of important relationships. If it was a big deal to my mom/sister that my ring is 'fake' I may be willing to let them think it is real. Not because I need their approval but because it just isn't worth debating if that is the sort of thing they value and I don't. For the sake of the overall relationship I can let it go.
