So I have a .5ct asha promise ring and even thought I DO love it, it gets dull easily, I have to constantly clean it, and it doesn't sparkle as much as I would like.
I really don't want a diamond, and I keep telling boyfriend this and he still is in the back of his head thinking that I really want one but just don't want to admit it. It's true. I don't want a diamond, but I do really like clean, white, and sparkly. I also don't plan on telling anyone it's not a diamond, because I am a coward and don't feel like dealing with the hassle of explaining my beliefs over and over again. It's like religion to me: I say I'm agnostic and just want to leave it at that and not get into any heated debate regardless of what I think!
Anyhow, I stalk this forum religiously, and I see a lot of girls that are happy customers, but I still need reassurance.
Exactly how diamond-like are the Amora? I heard they are sparklier, so that makes me a happy girl, but I live in the pacific northwest and it's a rainy cloudfest here, not to mention I work in a dark restaurant, and I keep seeing posts that say they show up green in dark/overcast light and I don't want to be rolling around with a green rock on my finger! And reeeaaalllyyy good comparison pics out there? If they look green, just how green do they look? I wish I could go to a jewelry store and see for myself!
Are there any Portland girls on here with an amora, preferably a ~.75-1.25ct that I can buy lunch and ogle their ring and see if I like it(totally asking too much, I know)?
I would just like to see something other than the weird looking moissy I see at JCPenny.
Sorry if I am overstepping my bounds!

hi there! honestly in that size, even most regular moissy i'm sure would be fine and without unfavorable color, in the rb shape. so amora i believe should be no problem. one of the things i love about moissy is that it sparkles even when dirty maybe when you're ready to buy you could order the size you want and see for yourself, if you don't like it just send it back.

If you're looking at a 1/2 carat equivalent, unenhanced Moissanite will do the job for you. When you get into 1 carat (6.5mm in a round) or bigger, then Amora will make a difference for you. I have an unenhanced 7.5mm round that is a gorgeous white most of the time, but does show the dreaded green "snotcast" in overcast weather. In low light though, it's a brilliant disco ball. I replaced that stone with a 7.5mm round Amora last year. I can't tell them apart except for in overcast weather. The Amora remains white and is wonderful with no signs of that murky undertone at all. Here are the comparison photos I took last year when I made the change. Hopefully they will help you. Scroll down on the page to see photos of just the two stones alone. http://betterthandiamond.com/discussion/...view#Post641655When Amora first hit the market, it was called Mira. So don't let the name discrepancy throw you. It's the exact same stone now, just a different name.

This is so funny because just the other day i was wishing I could find someone on these forums that has an amora cushion and lives in Seattle so I could meet them for coffee and finally get to see one in real life!! Good luck, I hope you find someone local! (Also I live about 30 min away from the BTD office and it kills me that I can't stop by and check out the inventory! Sadly they don't allow customers on the property since it's not a retail store.)

Thank you all for your input! I was seriously pinning over this until I realized that the Amora Gem isn't out yet, and the ring setting I have been drooling over comes with a CZ in it. I think I will settle for that or an asha while I wait for Amora. Hopefully the h&a will be out in the states soon? I hope its outlook is good and that I'll be able to ogle one in person within the next 9 months. I don't think I want to spend much money on a moissy if I'm planning on replacing it. Come on patent office, go!

I have 1ct an amora moissy that I pass off as a diamond. NOBODY knows the difference. In fact most of my co-workers think that FI spent a ton of money on a high quality diamond. If you get a size that is believable for your lifestyle nobody will even question it. And restaurant lighting is awesome I never see any green in my stone and I am very color sensitive.

What shape are you going for? Round? I think you should order a loose stone to see it first! There are lots of pics to help you out too, but nothing like seeing it for yourself.

I really like the H&A rounds and I also love Asschers, but boyfriend doesn't like them. I am afraid of getting an asscher because they face up sooo small and I really want something that is 6.5-7mm and in order to get that size in asscher I'm looking at a 1.7~ct stone. For you gals who are asking: Basically I want a 1-1.25 stone to put in this setting: http://www.tqdiamonds.com/shop-online/en...ng-2515rd8.htmlThat's not very far fetched from our actual budget or for what people have around my area, so it's quite believable.

I love mine! Everyone thought it was a diamond until I told them where it was from. I love my ring! No green at all, and it looks so sparkly in the sun. Mine is a 1 carat. I would recommend moissanite co.
