i would say the diamond cut. i think the concave is interesting and i like the light return, but for me its just too... something. i'm not sure what. the facets are too sharp, i know that't the style of the cut, but it doesn't appeal to me.
i think the traditional cut gives a more earth mined look, if that's a factor for you. I agree with ocMrsB. There's something about the concave cut that just doesn't gel with me. I'm all for the diamond cut. I have had a diamond cut and it was great. From reading on these threads, it appears the regular cushions have a little more vibrant color but a little less sparkle. The diamond cut rounds have a little less saturation of color but more sparkle. Here's a link to photos of a kashmir diamond cut sapphire that was set in a bezel. (i know a lucky lady on this thread who now owns this ring. poo poo on me for passing on it) http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/JbEGSignatureSettingsandSpecia/Plain-and-Pave-Solitaires/The-Julia-Bezel-Featuring-a/14932953_h9k6XW#!i=1131559027&k=74XW3

Ahh! I totally get that! That would get expensive! I say got with the diamond cut! Concaves are pretty, but the faceting seems to freeze and isn't as interesting as a diamond cut. Here is a video of a concave round in action. HTH!

That is one of the main differences in cut. The diamond cut has " rolling" sparkle and the concave has more sparkle continuously.
I think you really need to see both in person. I really thought I'd like the diamond cut more, but in person that changed.

I'm thinking about "strikes" you mean facets? If so, then here's a better pic of the diamond cut. How well you see the facets will depend on how dark the kashmir is and the lighting. The pic I attached below was more of a medium shade and it showed the facets very well. The kashmir stones vary wildly in color, I've found. So, if you are looking for a specific shade, just emailed BTD and tell them what you're after and maybe send them a pic. They can see what they have in stock and see if it would suit you. Here's a better picture of the diamond cut.

The concave cut makes the stone brighter which is why you can see the facets (what I think you meant by strikes) better. I had both, and it really shocked my how much the diamond cut darkened the stone. It only looked as vivid as the pic above on rare circumstances... That is dalso a very zoomed in photo. It's a nicely cut stone, but the concave is so much better for this particular colour, IMO. The jeweler I gave the stone to in London was very impressed with it

I have a concave cut from BTD, and it is not may fav cut at all. The stone does have better light play I guess, but I do not like the splintery look of it at all. So it depends what you are looking for... I am happy to "sacrifice" on ideal cut I guess, for a stone that is more pleasing more me to look at.
