Just wanted to show my new OEC diamond!

1.8 ct 7.95mm VS2 L color
Set in a low profile 6 prong platinum setting with surprise diamonds.

Adam from Old World Diamonds is great to work with, he found me exactly what I was looking for in my price range. Highly recommended. He is great with communication by phone and email. Excellent return and trade up policy as well.

This diamond has tons of fire and chunky facets that throw off beautiful pastel colors. Can't capture that in the photos. Amazingly white face up for an L!!

Excellent setting choice for that stone. I love it! Does the ring go crazy in dim light? Ive read OECs are fireballs in candle light.

I'm so excited to have figured out that my "OEC" is most likely an early transitional.Crisp facet pattern, small culet.

The measurements and the faceting just seemed not quite right for an OEC, so after doing some research, I think I've discovered why I love it even more than I thought I would. My EGL USA cert (and I think EGL certs in general) doesn't distinguish between OEC and transitional, for antique rounds, they all say OEC.

But anyway here is a good photo of the facet pattern,

maybe one of you vintage diamond experts can confirm what I'm thinking.

I have lusted over Cricketgrrl's transitional for years, as she knows smile

It actually is much whiter IRL, I took these pix in my bathroom which is painted a goldish yellow. The gold color in the diamond is reflection off the walls.

Love love! It definitely looks like a transitional cut to me. I love transitional cuts as well as the older OECs...really all antique cuts! Would you say the moissy OEC that you had, was about tHe same color as your new diamond?

You can tell its a transitional cut because there are more facets and a smaller table. The older OECs have larger facets and a larger table.

love Beautiful, beautiful, poppyseed! The setting is so lovely to showcase your Precious! smile The GIA grad who does appraisals for me called my transitional an "early round brilliant" cut. The OECs, according to him, are very different. I agree. grin I would choose *my* transitional cuts over the OEC every time, for fire and brilliance in all lighting, not just "candlelight" or low lighting. They're complete and utter fireballs whether in brilliant sunshine, regular daylight, office lighting, candlelight or even regular light bulbs! love The only time they don't fire is when it's dark out. LOL! Even in the car at night, where we have faint illumination over the console, if I happen to move my hand there, the rings fire. Love 'em!

Congrats! And I hope you have more glamour shots of your ring for us. tongue grin

I would say yes, pretty much the same color, the color in the first pix is closer to the OEC Moiss, not the last one, that is reflecting yellow from the room smile

Yes I do I will take some this weekend! Of course the chris is whiter even after baking it for 3 hours at 400 degrees. I have the warm white. I think the cut is spot on.

Great! I can't wait to see the comparison. I was thinking of the light champagne which I have heard is pretty warm - like an N.
