Ahhh, so it WAS worth it to deal with Hadley's crazy this past winter. You earn your paychecks and you use them well, Poppy. This is a stunner. Enjoy every minute of this well deserved treat!

Excellent setting choice for that stone. I love it! Does the ring go crazy in dim light? Ive read OECs are fireballs in candle light.

I'm so excited to have figured out that my "OEC" is most likely an early transitional.Crisp facet pattern, small culet. The measurements and the faceting just seemed not quite right for an OEC, so after doing some research, I think I've discovered why I love it even more than I thought I would. My EGL USA cert (and I think EGL certs in general) doesn't distinguish between OEC and transitional, for antique rounds, they all say OEC. But anyway here is a good photo of the facet pattern, maybe one of you vintage diamond experts can confirm what I'm thinking.I have lusted over Cricketgrrl's transitional for years, as she knows

Beautiful, beautiful, poppyseed! The setting is so lovely to showcase your Precious! The GIA grad who does appraisals for me called my transitional an "early round brilliant" cut. The OECs, according to him, are very different. I agree. I would choose *my* transitional cuts over the OEC every time, for fire and brilliance in all lighting, not just "candlelight" or low lighting. They're complete and utter fireballs whether in brilliant sunshine, regular daylight, office lighting, candlelight or even regular light bulbs! The only time they don't fire is when it's dark out. LOL! Even in the car at night, where we have faint illumination over the console, if I happen to move my hand there, the rings fire. Love 'em! Congrats! And I hope you have more glamour shots of your ring for us.

You can tell its a transitional cut because there are more facets and a smaller table. The older OECs have larger facets and a larger table. and on this diamond, the crown is not as steep as an OEC.

This is gorgeous! Do you still have your Chris UK oec? Do you have comparison pics? How would you say that they compared?

Great! I can't wait to see the comparison. I was thinking of the light champagne which I have heard is pretty warm - like an N.
