Hi

I was wondering if someone could help me out. For stones that are bezel set, can they be swapped out for another, like is done with prong set stones?

Does removing the stone, ruin the setting? I am assuming the stone will be fine.

Thanks!

generally, you have to choose between pretty much destroying the setting or destroying (shattering) the stone.

Dana is correct! I have only once had a stone changed out in a bezel. The stone has to be broken to be removed, and the bezel had to be "repaired". It cost me quite a bit so it's not something I would recommend, and I think most jewelers would be hesitant to do it.

Yup.. you have to choose, sacrifice the setting to get the stone, or the stone to save the setting. The setting could prob be repaired though, however, it is not a cheap or easy swap.
