Also Mike,..I just looked at the NAGL card,..
it say it is 8.15mm-8.21mm
And Asha is 8mm
We know I needed a 8mm and the Asha is right on.
Maybe this is also part of the problem where the Amora is just a bit too big to fit into the setting???

Thoughts anyone??

I would have him measure the stone. I just measured a stone we have here. The card states 8.14mm - 8.17mm, but my electronic caliper states 8.04mm.

Did he say he is going to "pry" bella open to lower the stone?

On my DK halo, the first time he set it, I noticed from pics it was a little high. So he openned up the inner bezel to drop it down more, but I don't think he pryed it open, I'm pretty sure he drilled and filed the inner bezel to make more room to drop down the stone. It wouldn't be hard to do and I don't think it will pose a risk to the ring.

I have nothing to file though,..mine is not a bezel,..my outer diamonds are "right there."

For me,...I wish it was cut "exactly" like the Asha.

Well now,..this could be part of the problem,..
My 8mm Asha is 4.72mm
I measured over and over again and that is what I got.
I also have a digital caliber.

Hmmm, idk. That's only about .65mm. I can't imagine that would cause the visual difference that we are seeing. Very odd...

.65mm is a lot when we are talking less that 5mm total. It is more than half a mm, and the girdle looks to be exposed by half a mm or less.

Oh boy, I'm confused again lol.

I thought she was talking about the depth because of the visual difference in the crown heights not the width of the stone in the setting. I might be way off though!

The OEC Moissanite was based on an Asha we sent C&C. That being said in the last couple of years BTD has used a couple of different cutters because their man cutter became way backed up. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised if there was some variation in the OEC cuts. I just never noticed it before.

However I still feel the reason it looks so different now that its set is because the entire stone is set higher on the prongs.

But the crown is still taller than the Asha even when the girdle will be set lower,..and I dont like that.

Can I send the stone back and get a store credit,..I am not asking for the money back,.which of course I would love more,..but I can deal with the store credit.
I hate the high crown on the OEC moissanite,..when it is in a halo.
It would be great in a solitaire though.
