Do your antique cuts - OEC, OMC, Cartier Cushions - do they have cutlets? I can't see any on the website photos. cutlet = meat ; culet = the bottom facet on a gemstone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutlethttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culetculets that are visible can be called "open", culets that are not visible can be called "closed" - like a Hearts & Arrows round, if it has a culet, it's teeeeeeeeeeeeeeensy and would be considered closed. The Asha OEC, E-ACC & OMC have open (visible) culets, as do most of the ACCs WinkCZs, by default, come with teeny-little culets. if special ordering one, and you want it large, be sure you request extra-extra-extra-extra-big because the last ones i ordered, i requested big, at least 1mm, culets and got .6mm ones the first batch of OEC Moissanites had larger culets, the newer ones have smaller ones. the older OEC ChrisCZs had deliciously big culets, but the Transitionals and newer batches of OECs have teensy ones.

Ooh, cutlets...I think we'll have chicken for dinner tonight! Seriously, all three of those cuts can be ordered with or without a culet, and we can customize the size. Some people prefer just a small culet, while others like a nice big open culet. It's all a matter of personal taste.

Dana do you know about when the culet sz on chris uk cz changed? trying to determine if I have some from the old batch or the new batch?
it's changed a couple of times, actually. it's gone from deliciously huge, to medium-ish to peepsy. here's a picture / post from the middle of last august: i tried to photograph the difference between the Transitional and the OEC... these are both Light Champagne, 8mm but the OEC is older - about two batches ago the cut was modified a little and the culet was made smaller than the one in this picture. the difference is subtle, and hard to photograph, but there is a difference. i prefer the OEC, but i can see why some people would prefer the Transitional. i can check to see if i have any more recent ones left, if you want?
