Eek, sorry, I skimmed the thread and missed the video.
I've drawn things on paint before to illustrate what I want to a jeweler. Mine were awful but I'm sure they see it all the time, and it is a clear way to show what you want.
I'd send your drawing to your jeweler along with the ring from Leon and the video. I'd ask for an elegant curve of the stem to allow for a band to sit flush at the point end of the pear while still appearing to be pleasing to the eye whether or not it is worn with a band. I think that gets the point across. You could even draw arrows on pictures to point out the specific elements that you are referring to to make things even clearer.
I normally say something like, I'm not a jeweler so I don't know if this is structurally possible or sound but __________ (fill in the blank question).
