Kanga, you silly roo, I have a video of rose cuts in my At Last thread. Mine sparkle more than sequins, tyvm. They sparkle more like rhinestones. or maybe, glitter painted sequins.

Hehe. The sparkle really is different. It's more of the light reflecting off the surface vs from within the stone. Diamond rose cuts sparkle more than white sapphire as the material type does matter still. I would love to see a moissy rose cut as I wonder if the double refractive index would add to the sparkle.

As far as the OP's question, since both OEC and rose cuts are antique cuts, with the rose cuts predating the OEC, I think they can be mixed in a ring if you like the look. If you do like them together then the only other thing to consider is the height of the table of each stone. The rose cuts may be higher or lower than the OEC cuts. If that doesn't bother you then go for it!

oh, yes, absolutely, i don't think mixing them is a problem. i had actually intended to use blush pink rose cuts in a ring i had made a while back - with an OMC center. but they just didn't work with the setting i used.

what the what?! $14..wow good to know. a couple months ago when I thought i was going to be wearing a rose cut ring everyday, i was planning on saving up for a rose cut eternity..glad I didnt shell out for it! Lol...Yes, I know, super inexpensive!! I found them Here You have to register to see the prices, but you don't have to be a business, I believe you can purchase as an individual. I registered as an individual and was able to see prices. Their prices are as follows... 3mm: $14.00/ea 4mm: $28.00/ea (whoops, I was mistaken!) 5mm: $58.00/ea 6mm: $100.00/ea Those are great prices I think! Hope I didn't break any rules by listing those. If so, let me know and I will edit my post.

I personally don't like rose cuts in eternity bands, and I don't know that they would mix well with the OECs. OECs have many more facets than rose cuts and as a result the sparkle will be super different between the two, and you will see your finger through the rose cuts more. I do like rose cuts in earrings and halos and such, but in eternity bands you can almost see right through the stone to the finger, and this would bother me personally.. Have you considered a low profile 5-7 stone? This thread has an awesome 5 stone that I would be happy to wear as a wedding band: http://betterthandiamond.com/discussion/ubbthreads.php/topics/741481/3 I am absolutely IN LOVE with that ring!! I can't wait to see hand shots of it! The inspiration ring is what got me thinking about a 5 stone in the first place. I will probably end up with a 5 stone in the end. But a girl can dream though! lol

Rose cuts used to be placed on flat backs with foil so that they would be more sparkly, that helps with the problem of see through and no glitter factor.

wishing, if you wanted to mix and match, I would just order some first to compare with the oEC colouring. I like the look of alternating or mixed stone rings, but that is just me. he moissy rosettes do come in forever brillaint though, so that is an option to get them to a closer colour match to the OEC perhaps.
