I don't remember if this was asked or not, and I'm too lazy at the moment to look through the entire thread at the moment, Will there eventually be an Amora Pear? lol no kidding, such a long thread!!! I don't believe Less has said anything about the pear, other than it is in low demand and that he will be focusing on the most popular cuts first. That being said - I (and a few others) assume and hope that one day there will be one - but I anticipate not for quite some time.

To the best of my knowledge, Less hasn't said so, but I do hope/believe that in time, Amora will come in all shapes, cuts, and sizes! I am dying to re-make my e-ring with an Amora pear, although I *might* be tempted to upgrade to a 10X7mm from my 9x6mm, some days my ring looks huge, some days it seems small. The really cool thing is that my FH and I are reaching a point in our lives where we can start doing a little more frivolous spending, which means sparklies for me, computer gadgets for him! ^.^

What is the difference between the Amora Gem and Moissanite, other than the color? Seems like the other properties are the same. Will there still be double refraction?

Hey bmn - I would suggest you check out this thread. It's a FAQ thread about the Amora gem and lists all the differences between current moissanite and the Amora gem: http://betterthandiamond.com/discussion/...read#Post732073ETA: and yes there is still double refraction

Thanks! The videos of the gem are beautiful...Moissanite kind of looks "blurry" to me due to the double refraction, and I'm not crazy about it. If the gem looks as good in person as it does in the video, I thing I'm going to need a couple The new Amora gems will technically be double refractive, but as I explained in my post here http://betterthandiamond.com/discussion/ubbthreads.php/topics/675825/5/OEC_Moissanite_PicsThis is really a non-issue that comes up from time to time (and is trumpeted loudly by CZ sellers trying to tear down Moissanite). Every double refractive gem has at least one direction in which the material behaves like a singly refractive gem. This is referred to as the optic axis, and does not break light into two rays. Moissanite is cut so that this direction of single refraction is though the table. This means that the doubling is not apparent when the stone is viewed though the table (top of the stone). More often than not when people complain about double refraction in C&C Moissanite, they are more unhappy with the cut of the stone and assume its double refraction.
