So, I just wanted to give an update! My bf and I decided to go with Amcor here in NYC last week! And Laurie has been such a pleasure to work with and super responsive to all my questions!! Hopefully by the end of July I'll have my e-ring!!!! smile

She took the time to explain what was and wasn't feasible with our ring so now we're getting:

Asha Asscher 7.5mm center stone with white and blue diamond accent stones set to the design I posted above in platinum.

I'm really glad I trusted my gut reaction to DNL's suspect behavior and didn't just go ahead with them. So, as an update to that scenario:

I was so PO'd with how our DNL sales rep was not very responsive. And more importantly I was peeved that their website promotes a stone guarantee that if anything happens to the stone (for the life of the jewelry piece), they'll replace the stone with a very nominal charge. Then when I requested my custom piece, they decided NOT to honor the stone guarantee so I would have to have to pay for the entire price of resetting a stone by myself. For me it raised a red flag. To offer a guarantee on your website and in all your catalogs, but then cancel that guarantee when someone requests a custom piece (when they promote their designers as being "some of the best") gives the impression that they don't stand behind their work. DNL's excuse (because I spoke with my sales rep as well as their head of marketing) was that because so many components of the ring were being made to spec (different center stone, cutting the blue stones which weren't stock items & having to redesign the setting to fit the center stone) it couldn't be covered by their guarantee.

It just sounded shady to me. And I'm glad I didn't go with them. Especially since I saw a few threads on here where you can see how cloudy the DNL stones are compared to the Ashas.

So glad I dodged that bullet!!!

Be sure to post pics when you get it. Sounds devine.

You will not regret working with poppyseed.

I'm really glad to see you've chosen Amcor too! I have a sapphire ring from them and poppyseed is fantastic to work with!

Yeah I'm really excited! It's only been a week since we put the deposit down but I'm so e-ring obsessed I swear I had a weird dream last night where for some reason I got the ring and it was totally wrong and my bf was so confused on how the ring was so messed up. Then halfway through the dream I realized that it wasn't Amcor but some mall jeweler that had messed up my ring!

So weird!

I definitely will...we just got the wax casting pics but soon-to-be DH wants to see them in person (since we're located in town with Amcor). But I'm definitely happy with the pace of activity. smile

I emailed them last night and this afternoon they'd already created a 3D CAD sample of my ring to help clarify my customizations! I'm 99% sold on using them!

Elkhart is up near south bend, far away from Indy. Still cool to find a good jeweler from Indiana! (I'm from Carmel). Always awesome to find hometown-mates! smile

I cannot wait to see the work that Amcor does for you! Keep us updated!

Well yesterday I got to go and try on my ring just to make sure that the sizing was correct etc. Soon to be DH and I went to their office to check out the setting. I was amazed that they were basically almost finished with my ring so quickly (we started everything just about 2 weeks ago)! They had moved beyond the wax casting to actually creating the setting in platinum. It wasn't polished yet and the stones hadn't been set, but basically the ring is almost done! ^_^

And it so happened that my diamonds and Asha had come in as well! The Asha Asscher was GORGEOUS! It had beautiful sparkle and great clarity (it wasn't set). And the diamonds (both regular and blue for my accent stones) were perfect. And they managed to find me the perfect color of blue that I had been looking for all along!

Can't wait for it to be finished so we can pick it up! ^_^

So I finally picked up my ring! It was ready almost a month ago but my fiance travels a lot & also likes to tease me so he kept delaying it. The ring is GORGEOUS! It has awesome sparkle and looks so nice. Can't wait to actually wear it. We're officially announcing our engagement to our family on Wednesday so I can't wear it out til then. frown

But here is a link to pics of my ring, http://flickr.com/gp/bigapplestyle/9a75e4/

I'll try to post some in-post pics, but all the pics are above. I took pics with my iPhone so some of them aren't amazing, but I took some with flash and some without!
