Hi everyone... So some of you know I'm single. I work from my home, and all my friends are married, plus they are weird about introducing people and making blind dates. I have also tried online dating without any success.

There is this woman who is single as well, and she started doing speed dating events. I have been going to them on and off for over a year now. She was more focused about keeping age ranges in the events, but very few people attended so she took away the age group restrictions. She also has acumulated a huge database and is dabbling with matchmaking. I signed up and gave her a deposit already, but I'm still waiting for that first date. I'm supposed to get 6.

Anyway, she is hosting a speed dating event and did an eventpage on Facebook. I noticed that some of the guys who responded are very young. I emailed her asking about this and she told me that none of those guys has given her a deposit and that the people she has registered are between the ages of 30 and 45. I'm 43 and I'm not interested on 30-something guys at all. So my possibilities for tonight are go and have a chance of maybe meeting one person who might be interesting, or don't bother and just have pizza night with my kids.

Should I go, even if the odds look slim? confused

If you really want to meet someone, I would go. Sure, chances are slim...but unless you are interested in pizza delivery boys, they are slimmer at home. wink

I would go, look at it as good practice. The more of these things you attend the more at ease you will be. If you meet someone, that's a bonus!

Thanks guys.... So, I'm going!

There have been events where I have met guys, but it never went past anything. I do know it only takes one, but they are so hard to find!

I will definetly let you know how it goes!

Glad that you are going. I divorced and moved to PA where I only knew 1 person at 38, LOL.

And it is hard at that age to meet people unless you go to bars. Well first DH (not dear) was an abusive alcoholic so that was not an option.

Luckily I met a perfect match online, who only lived 10 miles away. I met a few nice guys locally but as soon as I met DH (IS dear) I knew he was the one.

Go for it, have fun, and hey, you usually find them when you aren't expecting too.

I have a couple of guys looking, identical twins, mid fifties. Here in PA.
