Lol my sweet spot is non-existent I swear! I just bought a 10mm OEC from Chris Uk so I'm hoping that will be a good size in rounds for me. I swear every shape has its own sweet spot. In rounds 8mm is the absolute smallest I'll go. It's the size of "oh look a proportionate ring. Understated but there, doin it's thing". I ordered both a 9mm and a 10mm so hopefully one of those will be the perfect size for me in rounds from now on.

10x8mm used to seem perfect in rectangular shapes but it's starting to look small now lol.

But ya anything under 8mm or 10x8mm I classify as a "small" ring.

Btw- if I were to want something to "pass" as a diamond I think 8mm is as big as I can go for ppl to not second guess it since my hands are MASSIVE. But at 9-10mm people are going to be all "hmmmmm".

I have to admit that I got dss the very first day I got my ring.My stone is 8,5 mm,and when I got cheapy czs to get a sense of the sizes I really really wanted a 9,5mm.BUT...even though I'm not trying to pass it off as a diamond (a diamond this size would only be believable on Briatore's wife here whistle ),this is the biggest I can possibly go with my lifestyle.I just opened a thrift store,I help my husband with his bakery,I clean up after 3 kitties, and I don't want to have to take off my rings constantly because they are in the way, kwim?
Obviously,if in a couple of years my life gets more simple and less messy, then I will get a huge elongated cushion moissy, but for now this is it grin

I can't say that I've felt this yet. However, I started with a 3ct/8mm Asscher. The rest of the stones I've gotten since have all been 8mm and that's about the biggest I'd go on me. I dare say I could probably go smaller but I'm happy at 8mm as it always seems just a bit too big so I think that's a good thing.

I feel terrible for having (pre-ring) shrinkage!! No pear ever feels large enough to me when I draw it on my hand or use cut outs.... I think I'm going to have to get some cz's to try them out to see what I think..... Shrinkage is a pain! but a beautiful sparkly pain wink good advice for the cz's... hopefully we can all find our "sweet spot"

I just felt the pre-ring shrinkage thing a minute ago. I was watching the video I made of my emerald... (What? I miss it. blush ) and I thought "Ya know, it could be bigger..." and this is already over 5 carats! What is wrong with me?! shocked

I have the opposite problem. I started off with an 8mm amora moissanite. I bought one 9mm stone (asscher cut alexandrite) after that and have yet to set it, because I am not 100% sure I want to wear that size in a ring. After that purchase, I bought a 9x7 emerald cut ruby and two sapphires that are 7mm and 7.5mm respectively. I hardly wear the 8mm engagement ring, because I feel it's too big for me. I've considered selling it a couple of times, but keep deciding to keep it as part of my collection. Now, I am considering an OEC project and can't decide if I should go for a 7mm or a 7.5mm. I have a size 7 finger, so it's not that the size of the stone overwhelms my hand or anything. It's just that where I live, it seems a bit flashy. I'm not sure what the average size engagement ring is where I live, but I rarely see more than .5ct on hands.

i have reverse shrinkage, too. i started out thinking that a 6mm was the perfect stone size on my size 8.5 finger - and discovered antique cut sims while searching for a stunt double for my antique diamond.

once i discovered how crazy affordable these antique cut sims are, i gradually got larger and larger sizes. but y'know - i still think 6mm is my sweet spot. so that's why i have sizes ranging from 5mm to 9mm, so i can wear what i think is more appropriate that day.

Love 8mm rounds, cushions in white stones. I love bigger in any color stones.

I have reverse shrinkage too. Some parts of the city I live in are not safe anymore, so I don't feel comfortable wearing jewelry with huge stones, unless they are semiprecious.

I had a 9x7 Asha ring that got replaced by the 7.5x5.5 version. I then sold most of my rings and I'm in the process of rebuilding my collection with rings I would actually wear outside the house.
