this is what worked:

"I used T-CUT, a car paint restorer, it took about one minute to remove the stain. Everything else failed, i mean everything. The stone is now PERFECT. A quick and simple solution...."

apparently that brand is in the UK. use silver polish and rub your moissy with a q-tip.

Hi all, i am the UK one!!

I bought a 1.5ct moissanite ring for a good price. When it arrived it was full of this oil slick thingy. I tried soaking, cleaning, etc. You MUST use something that is slightly abbraisive, a metal polish (silver, brass, etc) or car polish, etc. You're just waisting your time if you don't use something abbraisive.

It will take about 2 seconds to remove the marks if you use an abbraisive polish. (just make sure it's not a polish with a diamond base).

There are various posts about these marks... They think it's some kind of resedue left from setting. Once you remove the stains, it won't come back.

Good luck. Your moissy will be like new very soon....

Yes, just use a little silver polish. I am not sure what it is, but it happens to moissy occasionally. I think Less said once that is was residual polish from when C&C polished the stones, and then when oils get on it looks like that. Either way, it is not serious. wink

I have the exact same thing happening to my moissanite! I've tried so many different things and nothing has removed the "smudges". I'm nervous about trying the silver polish as I don't want to ruin my stone or my ring. My husband suggested I contact MoissaniteCo to see what they suggest since I have only had my ring a year.

Below is the best picture I could take showing the "smudging" that I am experiencing.

I used a very soft old toothbrush and baking soda to get the oily stuff off.
I've also tried soaking in white vinegar for 5 minutes followed by a pinch of baking soda. Haven't had it happen again yet.

Sparkles&Smiles -that is such a perfect picture of what i have been dealing with! And just a heads up about moissanite co, we sent my ring back to be cleaned and it looked great for a week or so then it came back. And every time we emailed them they had one more cleaning solution to try, but never mentioned the car paint restorer or silver polish....so i feel really good about trying that myself
