Charles and Colvard recommends the silver polish with a nylon scrubbie pad.

So glad I found this post-I have had it on mine as well, it seems like it isn't always there but I am sure it is and it just becomes apparent in certain lightings. Looks like and Oil slick. I am going to try the baking soda tonight with a makeup sponge. I don't have car polish here....

*Update*

So my husband took " Goof Off" to my moissy with a mr. clean magic eraser & then used a razor blade to take off the adhesive and now my ring looks beautiful. I am hoping that this doesn't come back, and according to some of you it seems like this may take care of it, or at least for a while.

**UPDATE**

Being that I'm still nervous to try the silver cleaner on my stone (without damaging the metal) I decided to try the electric toothbrush/paste method first.

After 2 cycles with my electric toothpaste and some Crest Whiten Toothpaste it took approx. 95% of the "smudges" away!! I'm so excited! I'll try another cycle tonight to see if I can get the remainder of the smudges off, but as of now it appears to have worked. I guess whitening toothpaste is not just for your teeth! smile

Thank you to everyone for the great suggestions!

whitening toothpaste is probably just as abrasive as silver polish, just FYI wink

I had been wondering whether or not it was safe to use toothpaste on a regular basis to clean jewelry. It works wonders on my silver necklace. I just dab a pinch of toothpaste on my fingertips and slide the chain between my fingers. Presto, black fingertips and a shiny necklace. Is it too harsh to use once a week on a diamond or moissanite or sapphires?

Okay okay!! So after I posted prematurely last night it became clear that even though the Goof off was super abrasive it did not remove everything, and considering it ate through a plastic ramekin, it really should have taken all of the adhesive off.

SO... I just finished with the silver polish and used a toothbrush & i don't see any of the adhesive, anywhere on my ring! So that in itself is amazing, and the silver polish isn't nearly as strong smelling as the Goof Off.

Now the true test is will this last for a while?? Im hoping i don't have to worry about this anymore or at least for a long time, but I'm thinking the silver polish is a winner!
