From what you've posted so far, it sounds like a halo is important to her, and that she's torn between a pink or near-colorless stone but leaning toward near-colorless. Am I reading correctly?

If so, I agree with you that an unenhanced Moissanite center with a pink halo would be the best of both worlds. I think this is an awesome idea. Any of the board vendors can pull this look together for you, either in a stock halo setting or in a custom setting from scratch (which often doesn't cost any more).

For the halo stones, you'd probably want to use pink sapphires. Pink Moissanites aren't made that small, and pink diamonds would be out of your budget. Although sapphires don't sparkle like a diamond or Moissy does, you'll have the center OEC Moissy to more than compensate for that.

yeah she likes the whole "morganite with white halo look" but we were turned off by the morganite being too soft for her to wear all the time in a retail setting.

but then when we looked at just settings she liked this one:

but we were looking at a diamond at that time and there was no room in budget for a halo type setting.

Since she liked the sort of split shank of the solitaire you linked above, how about a stock setting like this?

http://www.uniquesettings.com/products/show/15834

Even though small stones are inexpensive, setting lots of them can get spendy since each one incurs a setting charge. It would be budget friendly to only do that on the halo and not the shank.

Also, a split shank is more viable on its own without adding a wedding band later, which can be another budget saver down the road.

I am glad she you are both narrowing down your choices and she is finding some things she likes. smile That Unique setting that Hadley posted would be beautiful with an OEC center. smile And +2 to the pink sapphires if you decide you want a pink halo. You can choose from a wide variety of shades as well, so she can get that morganite colour is she wants.

just to add some additional visuals to this thread... of what pink stones look like set in rose gold...

a very pale pink CZ

(blurry) comparison between that pale pink CZ and an Asha OMC - just to show the hue of the pink

a no longer available (Blush Pink) colour, but just for reference

a tourmaline

a pink Asha

the no longer available (Blush Pink) colour, but just for reference, OMC and diamond halo:

We walked by some store in the mall called Ultimate Diamond and saw some clear Moissanites, are the unenhanced OEC ones likely to have that greenish blue tint thing or is that a trick of the lights? We didn't like that so much, but we liked the sparkle.

We also like this setting but in rose gold with a pink 1.2 crt. Moissanite.

http://www.etsy.com/listing/83674007/14k-asscher-morganite-diamond-engagement

this is a asscher cut? do they make that in a peachy pink?
or we could do a peachy pink cushion on it's bias like this:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/99634232/14k-cushion-moissanite-engagement-ring

What we did eliminate from our thoughts is, we decided we no longer like white/clear stones with halos, and we decided that we no longer like the idea of pink halo around a white/clear center stone.

So in conclusion, so far we think

1. pink Moissanite with white/clear halo on split shank, with or with out white/clear stones on band, or non split shank with a few white/clear stones on rose gold band.

OR

2. White/clear OEC or cushion Moissanite center on a split shank, with or with out white/clear stones on band, or non split shank with a few white/clear stones on rose gold band.

smile

unless we find an awesome chocolate or other natural type colored diamond

You could put a cushion in that setting. There is no asscher moissanite presently. The setting is lovely though. smile

I depends o how old that moissanite you saw is. Moissanite has really improved over the years, so if it is old stock, it will be more tinted than new stock. But moissanite is not inherently a colourless stone. And not all moissy is created equal... Some people see green in their unenhanced stones, and some people see green in their Amora enhanced stones. Some people never see green. So there is no clear answer to that question. But if the stone is pink, you will never see green, lol. However, the stone is still moissy and will still change colour; from pale peachy pink to a darker more salmony pink.

Here is a link to a page with eleven different rose gold settings that you can fill with different center stones. Maybe this will give you a better idea of what direction you want to go.
