Hi everyone..question for you..

I found a 14kt white gold cz solitaire ring at one of my local antique stores. I LOVE solitaires and was thinking of wearing it as a right hand ring. The ring needed some work...new cz and to be resized down at least a half a size.
I took it my local jeweler who quoted me a price of $100.00 to do everything..new cz, resize and fix some of the prongs...is this a good deal? It's been a long time since I had any major work done on any of my pieces.

I think it's a reasonable deal from what you're saying. You may want to look into buying a high quality cz from wink if you're going to do it though...not all cz's are created equally!

i think it's a pretty good price, actually. it's the prong retipping and setting of the new stone, i imagine, that's the bulk of that price.

i've had antique rings just retipped and paid about that same amount just for that.

I had my natural diamond solitaire prongs retipped and sizing done for right around that as well... I don't think you could go wrong with that price...

.... and to what E said.... not all CZs are created equal... I would order something from Wink....

I'm going to do it! My dh gave the go ahead as a b-day present for me. It won't be done for almost 2 weeks but my B-day isn't until August anyway..so, it works out.
Thanks again for your help! I didn't go with the wink cz, mostly because of cost right now...maybe someday I will change it, hopefully they don't put a nasty looking cz in it...but anything would be better then the one that was in it when I brought it in! LOL

I can't wait to see it megan... ... I've seen my jewelers CZs before and they really werent bad.... they show their diamond settings with them ....

roogirl..I will post pictures when I get it One of the jewelers I used to go to had such nice cz's in their settings I actually thought they were diamonds! Tacori puts HORRIBLE cz's their mountings...at least they did years ago, no way would you think it was a diamond. So, hopefully it will be decent.
