Ok ladies... in the past few months there have been a lot of you that have gotten antique cut stones... be it Asha... Wink... ChrisUK... Moissy... Natural Diamonds... and the reason we love these cuts soooo much is because of the chunky facets...
SOOOOO I think it would be great to have a thread were we can post pics that we have taken trying to catch those chunky facets of goodness...
... just this evening I took these two of Dreamy...
... So everyone snap those chunky facets and post them here!!!!
I hope to get better pics later of Dreamy... and Daisy too..
I'm biased, but out of them all I actually like my Amora! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world...
I like your amora the most too! =)
Thank you!!! Your diamond is just out of this world too, KJMM! I'm all about the sims and what not, but to own a fantastic (HUGE!) and buttery diamond like yours, I might be willing to part with my left leg lol
Sorry about the spots... I didn't go over it with alcohol after I done a quick clean last night.... ... you can't see the spots other then in the pic...

Roo, I would like to know if your ring would like to marry me? LOL Seriously??????
This thread is killing me!!! (In a really good way). Now Joyce and Joolsie, that's just not fair! ....I actually have no words to describe how ecstatic I am about your rings!! I will be back on this thread admiring many, many times.
Those chunky facets can haunt us in our sleep Brookie1978... I've done that before... Had a stone/ring and then decide I didn't want it anymore and sold it or sent it back only to then look at pics and realize I wish I still had it...

I know I'm on a waiting list for a 9mm Asha OMC, but I kinda regret selling my 7mm Asha OMC now.
You know- I WAS then WASN'T going to get an ACC, but i think I'm back to AM :-) Just to have for the future ( thank you thread). But I really really wish we could get ACC's as an Amora Gem!!! Sigh.
Since so many people want ACC's.. And who knows which may be the last asha batch... I'm scared AD's gonna sell out in a week!!! Maybe it's just because those of us who love them are so vocal about it?
I know what your saying Brookie... I hope that maybe someday there will be an ACC ( I'm hoping also elongated ) Amora Gem... Or at least that they would end up being a standard cut for Asha for all us ACC lovers.... really all the antique cuts are HOT HOT HOT!!!! And as time goes on are becoming more and more popular... I'm SOOOOO Thankful that Wink has them in his stones...
Olivejuice.... I love your ring.... and I know it's going to be just as amazing when you get it back... please please please add more pics when you get it....

ok so I had the need to see the ACC 7mm in a similar setting to the one I've ordered from BTD (see my avatar)
so armed with some pliers I reomved the stone from the Giovanna setting and put it in a sterling silver setting thats not dissimilar to my dream...... I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
just cant wait for my dream ring to be done, its going to be a platinum dream

Hee Hee Hee Roogirl it's ALL ABOUT THE CHUNKY FACETS for me!!!!
The ring is being made as we speak and I'm just waiting for AD to get the ACC in stock then they will ship it over to BTD to set it. It's all too exciting for words!!! What the hell am I going to do once it's all over?
This is my #1 site I visit many times a day, I suppose I'll just have to save for another chunk of heaven ...... Hmmmmm OMC, OEC ?!?!

I have an overwhelming urge to "do it" !! I have always fiddled with things and luckily have an ability to fix things. I'm just so bloody thankful I didn't damage anything.....teeth mainly

Yeah, I know what you mean! Last time I refused to give up on something like that I got my arm stuck up to my shoulder between a mattress and a headboard trying to plug something in behind the bed. Husband had to help remove me. Wasn't pretty. Didn't dislocate anything, but hurt for weeks!
And the end result was only a nice new lamp on the night table. Not nearly as gratifying as a beautiful shiny ring!
then you would probably be great to set some of your own stones... you know... for fun pieces.... some can do it... then there are those that can... and then there are those that try that have a 50/50 success rate... like me...
Would love to see the Chris OMC! I ordered stones from him on the 5th but I still haven't received them. Starting to think I won't. I ordered an OEC and a few others, because I'm thinking of doing an OEC in my avatar ring when I get it, instead of a round brilliant.

Ok so I posted before that I was afraid I might not get the stones I ordered from ChrisCZ, and then they showed up in my mailbox! Just wanted to share. I've never had an OEC before!
Cameo appearance by one of my cats, since she was swishing her tail in the background.
I absolutely love them, and I actually just ordered another batch today which includes a rectangular asscher, cushion, and square modern radiant. Can't wait to get them.
My problem now is that I'm torn between 8mm and 9mm for the ring I'm getting in a few months. My current asha is an 8mm and I've been feeling like maybe it's a little bit too small, but maybe the 9mm is too big? For perspective, this Chris OEC is 9mm.
What do you guys think? I want it to look believable, but for my size 8 finger, the 8mm just feels small sometimes. Plus I don't know if I should go for an OEC or a round brilliant, because I do love my round brilliant Asha, and I haven't even seen an Asha OEC in real life. Ugh! So many questions.
Gorgeous!! I vote OEC but I am a chunky nut! They are just sooo pretty. And I think the 9mm looks great on your hand. If you already have some shrinkage with the 8mm then the 9mm makes complete sense to me. I think you should go for it!
I do admit that I like larger stones though, as mine is an 8mm with size 5 finger. Plus I have the halo, so I LOVE great finger coverage and lots of sparkle.
live-laugh-love (can I just call you LLL? ), I'm thinking the larger stone too. It's just that I'm afraid it won't be believable...my diamond that was stolen was 2 carats, so my current Asha looks legit, but jumping up to 2.75-3 carats, I'm not sure. Oh well. I have some time to think about it. I will love it either way.
Roo, that stone is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for telling me about the video! The OEC isn't in stock on BTD right now, but neither is the 9mm round brilliant. Hopefully they both will be come October/November so I can have my pick.
Mike said something just over the weekend that the OEC will be back in stock I think with in a month.... plus if you went with the OEC you could always say since it's an older stone you got a great deal at an estate sale if you want to pass if off as real...
I am so exciting you are joining the chunky facet club! I PROMISE you that you will not be disappointed with the amazingness of that stone!!! Oh, just wait and see! It's the best club I've ever been a part of.
Funny enough it is a QVC ring with the center stone replaced with a Wink Cartier Cushion! I thought it would tide me over for a while until I can get my french cut ring with an Amora AVC center.
LLL, I'm excited too! I actually just finished obliterating a cheap sterling silver cz solitaire mount I have in order to sit one of the OECs in it while wearing it and see how it would look. I have to say I liked the way the OEC looked on my hand and I LOOOOVED the size of the 9mm! It was absolute perfectionn. It's going to have to be a 9mm when I get my ring.
I actually woke DF in the process, and he must think I'm pretty crazy. He walked in on me sitting at the kitchen table going to town on that mounting with a pair of needle-nose pliers and thought I had absolutely lost my mind. I've always been a bit of a night owl, but...
I emailed a seller on Etsy who makes inexpensive pieces with Chris CZs and asked if she'd make me a solitaire so I can have a test run. I hope she says yes!
Edited by LaLa86 (08/20/1211:44 PM) Edit Reason: To add!
Oh my goodness Roogirl! I just watched the video of your OEC and yummy, yummy, yummy! I do not own any Asha's or cz's yet, but after studying for over two years, I know I LOVE chunky facets and am planning an Asha ACC for my engagement ring but I know now that I definitely need to do an OEC project someday very soon! I am so excited to own chunky facets!

Those are beauties, LaLa! Baking came out perfectly. Think I need to check out ChrisCZ again; since his prices were so good, I doubted the quality but they are brilliant. I need to stop seeing things I need!
Synenome, Chris's stones are absolutely lovely and I'm really happy because I'm going to be able to wear one of his OECs on my hand for a couple months and decide if I want an Asha OEC or round brilliant for my next ring. I found a great seller on Etsy who's going to set me a simple solitaire ring AND a matching pair of solitaire earrings, all Chris's OECs, for under $100. I'm stoked!
You guys should check her out. She makes cute stuff and uses a lot of his stones.

Thank you, LaLa! I think you just made me an offer I can't refuse! But I'll bet DH can refuse on my behalf after my Absolute and stainless steel binge. Maybe by Christmas...

She's mine and I love her! I didn't realize how much I worried about prongs until I went with te bezel setting. Love my ring and what it represents! She's different, and not for everyone. But I love her.
MsPleeth40, that ring has me swooning big time! I LOVE bezels, and yours is just.... beautiful simplicity with just enough detail to make it super unique. She's gorgeous!
Thanks ladies! I don't know if you know the purpose of the design of this ring. The basket is a pair of W's for our last name and the emeralds are my darling mans birthstone. there is actually a hidden emerald inside the shank as well. The amazing folks at Schubachs went above and beyond with this ring. It is amazing!
Oh my goodness! I absolutely LOVE The MsPleeth40's bezel. I have always felt that way, but seeing it again makes me massively jealous and I think I need one like it I usually don't even fancy bezels too much; who'da thunk it!?
And Ginger, I love the center switch-a-roo you made to your QVC ring! It is very very realistic looking!
Figured I should add a token picture of my 7.5mm OEC Amora until I get her back and can take some fun sun photos! My first chunky cut and I think I'm in love.
Bumping this thread so I can share this pretty that I'll be receiving on Friday. Shannon from Shantastic Jewelry made this ring for me with a 9mm ChrisCZ OEC in sterling silver. It's my trial run ring before I order the real deal to make sure the OEC is what I want and that I'm comfortable with the stone size. It turned out so pretty! And Shannon was so wonderful and accommodating. I can't say enough nice things about her.

This is a fantastic cut LaLa, I'm sure you'll be mesmerised by the chunky flashes of colour reflecting back at you! I think the setting is magnificent, love, love, love it!!!!!!!!!!!!'

Thank you ladies! I can't stand the wait. Ugh! It will be even worse when I order my forever ring I'm sure. Thankfully Shannon priority shipped it this morning, so I will get it Friday. And she shipped it for free! I tried to offer her money and she wouldn't take it. Class act.
Oh and she named it after me. The Lauren . How neat!
It's here! Along with the matching earrings she made me, which are 6mm OEC's. Chris's stones are really just so amazing. I am loving these.
I am confident now that the 9mm OEC is the way to go for my ring. Unfortunately I emailed Chris at Asha Diamonds yesterday to go ahead and buy the ring and they are now out of 9mm OECs...bad timing. But they will have more in a couple weeks so I will soon have my ring.

You ladies are fanning my lust for a BIG OEC solitaire! It would be a right hand ring, however, because if I take on another project DH will take up with a project of his own who has NO desire for jewelry, or so I am told.
Aw, you guys! Makes me feel pretty special that you ladies think my ring is pretty and worthy of admiration. I'm tickled pink with it, and was even asked yesterday if I was recently engaged, lol! Nope, married already, this is just the upgrade/graduation present/birthday present.
Beautiful Miss Cassie...I would Love to see a profile shot ..I think I missed your post where the stone was lowered...I absolutely love how it looks now..just wish I could see different picrure of it to see how the head was accommodated to lower your stone..it's breathtakingly beautiful!
Just wanted to share my new baby. It's a 9mm Asha OEC set in palladium with .52c diamond accents. My finger is a size 8/8.5 but I've been ordering everything in 9 lately for stacking.
I love it so much! So glad I went with the Moissanite Co. mounting instead of the BTD one. I love the diamonds circling the basket. Such a pretty detail.
And please excuse the huge pictures. I'm too lazy to edit them down, and figured everyone here would appreciate the close ups.
Thank you all. I love it so much. I don't know how I ever lived without chunky facets but I will never go back! I wore it to work today and started getting questions from my customers. "Is it from here?" etc. That's an awkward question since I sell diamonds for a living!
Hi! I would like to thank LaLa for helping me find the perfect stone for my ring! I love antiqueish rings, so I had a Chris light champagne round brilliant in this ring until I made LaLa's trial run engagement ring. I was totally mesmerized by the OEC!! I just want everything made with this stone. Next time I order from Chris, I am buying a bunch of them. BTW, this was a Lauren G. Adams design, with blue cz sidestones a white round cz. I reset it with lab blue sapphires and the Chris cz that I baked a couple times.
Shannon! I love the ring you made for yourself. It is so beautiful and the filigree is so pretty. so glad I could help you discover the oec. The ladies here helped me find it.
And I pretty much never stop looking at my ring, ever. A coworker ran off with it while I was cleaning it earlier. She was just doing it to be cute, but she just about met jesus!
Funny enough it is a QVC ring with the center stone replaced with a Wink Cartier Cushion! I thought it would tide me over for a while until I can get my french cut ring with an Amora AVC center.
How do you ladies get such gorgeous pictures of your stones? I have tried the "flower" setting on my camera, it is not easy. All the flashes of color and getting the pic to show the faceting - amazing! I love it!
Hi LaLa!! Oh that naughty girl! I would have died if someone did that to me when I first got my e-ring.
About pics: I use the tungsten light setting with indoor incandescent lamp directly over the ring. It takes a few shots to get it right. I switch between "spot" and "center-weighted average" to get it right. I'm not sure why tungsten gives the best lighting situation, but it is always the most natural indoor look. I never use that setting outdoors.
Hi Nicole, yes, you can bake czs! It makes them warmer, more like a diamond. There is lots of info on the forum about how to do it. Just do a search "baked cz" or something to that effect.
Is your birthday 12-20? If so, at least the world isn't going to end on your birthday! Mine is 12-21!! Good times!!

Ok, it's official! These antique cuts are killing me! I am becoming slightly obsessed with them and absolutely no one around me wants to hear about it! I just got married and I have a nice wedding set so those who are not as into sparkly stuff would think I was insane! Sooooo pretty though!

Ooooooh Ms Taylor doesn't she look just "good enough to wear" even if your not happy with the old diamond debate!!!! That little minx could turn me I think!!!!!!

I just showed my FI your ring and he said, "Uh, yeah, oh yeah. I really like the outside part, too." My thoughts exactly! lol Soooo, I'm thinking a 'Lorrissey inspired' ring would be a great Christmas present.
Thanks ladies. It is Wink's colorless CZ. I baked it once for a little over 2 hours at I think 400 and it livened it up a bit. The stone isn't quite as warm as it looks in the picture/video. That's just the lighting in my bathroom. But I do like the color of the stone a lot, especially after baking.
It is an 11x9 E-ACC. I bought it off another board member, who bought it off another board member. Pretty sure no one will be buying it off of me.
I guess I never added mine to this. OEC diamond, 6.3mm, .85ct I VS1 OEC with medium or perhaps strong blue fluor, and a window (black spot that you see sometimes). Setting is from Shenoa, purchased in summer 2005.

LolaSanchez, to THIS very day that will always be my favorite diamond and ring ever! A client recently asked me if there was ever a piece that "got away" - that was my favorite of the ones I've sold. It's not my old cushion HW style halo, or the vintage Leon asscher - it will always be your ring! Not in the sense that I regret selling her (I'm so thrilled that you have it!), but in the sense that it's still my favorite piece of all time. It's just perfection.
