I found this halo setting at Berricle that fits a 10mm round, which is more the size I was thinking of. And OMC or OEC would still look awesome in it. It's not the same vintage filigree style I had in mind. I like the first setting I posted a lot but 13mm is big...I do love the hearts and flowers motif though! IDK!

Well at a size 8 and having it be a fun ring, I don't think it's a bad idea smile

Well I just got word back about the project and with it costing $125 to set, then the cost of the antique setting and the 13mm stone, that puts me back over my initial budget! LOL! Ugh!

It really is back to the drawing board, I feel like I can never get a potential project in the works!

This would be really pretty and cost effective too!!! I recommend a Chris UK CZ to keep costs down if you are on a tight budget.

I really like the berricle! My cushion is a berricle and it is very nice and has held up against clouding, which is funny since I don't baby it AT ALL.

Thanks! I'm definitely now trying to think of ways to keep the cost way down, but still get a really pretty ring and get to try a Wink stone. I'm OK with putting the money down for an 8-10mm Wink. I was looking at Chris UK CZ too though!

If you want to use a Wink stone and keep cost down... pick out a Berricle ring ... one that there isn't to much stone work going on around the prongs so that way Wink can set his stone in it with no problem... Joyce has done a few rings this way and they turned out amazing!!!!

*Update*

After thinking about it for awhile, I decided to start from the beginning and think "What do I really want?". I knew I wanted a Wink stone, but I was wavering about what type of ring I really wanted. I realized I don't have a nice solitaire in my collection, but I have several WG diamond bands that would look nice with one. I just fell in love with the idea of having a classic solitaire but with a twist, a large OEC stone instead of the usual RB. I also realized if I'm going to be spending several hundred dollars, I might as well just spring for the gold instead of SS so I can have a "forever" ring.

I found a setting that is not only what I want, but within my budget...just a 6-prong WG solitaire from e14k.com:

I'm going to add the comfort fit option.

I feel really good about the decision and ready to move on with the project.

The only question marks I still have are:

A) Should I go for the 4ct. (10mm) or 5ct. (11mm.)? I want something big, but I'm not sure if the 11mm would be too big. I don't know. I considered the 3ct. size (9mm) as well. But I have several 8mm rings already and kind of wanted to go the extra mile with this one, have it be special. I'm leaning towards 5ct, I think. All sizes would be within budget.

and B): Should I do Light Yellow or Imperial White? Ideally I would like it to be J/K in color. H (Imperial White) would be OK too. I'm just not sure what color on the scale the Light Yellow compares to.

No idea on wink's stone colours... but I am sure others can help with that. But I like your solitaire in gold plan!! SImple and classic, and easy to stack with, and it will last. smile

For size, I am a 6 and like a 10mm in a round now. I used to think 9mm was good, but now it is too tiny. Whenever I have found myself wavering between 2 sizes, I have have with the smaller, and always gotten shrinkage. So this time, when I was trying to decide between 9.5mm or 10mm, I went with the 10mm to keep shrinkage away. And I am glad I did, because I have been wearing a 10mm cz around the house now for months, and I have decided it is the right size. smile So if you are looking for a big stone, go with the 11mm.
