ocMrsB, chances are you could patch any puncture and you will just notice the cost when it comes to replacing your tires. wink

DH says that is *probably* a liabilty thing, but check with a reputable tire shop, with trained tire techs.

Corvettes come with run flats as well. The only issues with them are the cost and they are louder than normal tires. Not a lot, but in a quiet care you can hear the difference. And no, they should not be patched. Replace only.

Also, if you intend to do track days your times will be considerably lower on non run-flat tires. Michelen Pilots for example rock wink

I drive a Mini (which is owned by BMW)
I started out with run flats and ended up needing to replace them while on vacation. I got regular tires because no one carried the run flats in stock.

The run flats were just a little bit louder and the ride a tiny bit rougher.

yes, its like i can feel everything in the road haha! i'm also concerned with shops not having them available for replacement.

when one goes, i will probably replace them all with regulars smirk i just don't want to deal with their drama haha

I ended up switching out the run flats on my 328i with Pirelli tires based on the tire guy's recommendation to improve the ride and I have been happy. I figure if I get a flat I'm calling triple A, so towing will be fine. Knock on wood that it doesn't happen smile

Yes, I would say it's smoother. Pirelli tires are a sports performance tire so I think they pair well with a sports sedan, seems to hug the road better. I feel like my car handles better. Now if I could just test it on the Autobahn...

The very helpful guy at the tire store recommended 2 different tires based on comfortable ride and sports performance and I chose between the two. If a smoother ride is what you are after, I'm sure they can direct you toward the right tire for that. smile
