For a 9mm stone would you go 3mm or 4mm on the width of the shank?

I love this setting, but I cannot decide 3 or 4mm for the life of me.
For reference I wear a size 7/7.5/8 depending on the width of the ring in question, and I have stumpy fingers, so I'm kind of scared of the 4mm, but I adore thicker bands, especially with a bigger stone.

I also know that the shank tapers somewhat, but since I have never really seen one up close from all angles I don't want to be misled by the few online pics I have seen.

Can anyone possibly make a suggestion? I'm getting obsessive about this lol

I have the same finger size and personally I'd get the 4 wink

The 4mm really caught my eye when I saw a photo of it the first time. The 3mm is gorgeous also, but I think a shank that size just gets lost under a stone as wide as 9mm. The stone will probably be a round (I'm still a bit undecided).

Okay, so I have one vote for 4mm.

Does anyone have a couple of good angle shots to post?

I had this ring once upon a time set with a 2ct 10x7mm liz C barion cut pear. I am pretty sure it was a 3mm but it was a while ago so I could be wrong... here are some pictures. Enjoy!

Whether you go with the 3 or the 4, the structure is the same. You can have the head integrated as well so that there is not as much height, but I love the Roseco cathedral! It works well with just about any band, and it's like butter on the hand.

I believe this is a 4mm with a Solstice head integrated:

Thanks for the pics, diamonds247. That Pear cut looks beautiful.

Diamondangel, yes, I was thinking of a low-set head, maybe even integrated.
I love moissyco's six prong tulip style head. I think that would be an amazing combination with the Roseco cathedral.

diamonds-that looks like a 4mm to me.

I prefer the 3mm personally. I like a daintier shank, but the 3mm isn't *too* dainty. I love the flare and curve of the shank. Here's mine-a 3mm.

I'll get more in better light.

meh, here's a few:

this is with a 2.5 mm band. The ering is 2.5mm on the bottom and tapers up to 3mm near the head. I love it.

e.taylor your ring is gorgeous. Is that a 2 ct stone? It looks substantial but dainty on your hand.
And I also think d247's pear is a 4mm shank. In comparison with the 10x7 pear it still manages to hold it's own. I like that. The Roseco really is the perfect cathedral setting to me.

yes, it's an 8mm moissy. it's just perfection for me. I don't like my bands wide because my hands can't handle it. fingers are stubby and short. but the ratio on this set is wonderful.
