Lucky me! Last week I acquired a gorgeous loose Amora cushion. There is some confusion on the size, but it is closer to 7.5mm than 7mm.
Lucky you! I'm looking for a setting and I'm wide open to suggestions. I only have a couple of "no" guidelines -- nothing too delicate or busy because I'm not a girly-girl, and no pave because I would destroy it.
This will be my first ever NOT ROUND stone, so I'd like to really emphasize the cushion shape with a bezel. Also, a bezel will get me my first non-prongs setting.
I'm thinking about using side stones for the first time, probably rubies because I like their rich warmth in a yellow setting (my only metal option). Plus, red is kinda punchy fun, too.
I've always worn honkin' 9-11mm wide bands because I'm lucky enough to have long fingers. But to continue with the theme of doing something different, this might be a stand-alone ring with minimal gold and a very thin band (I'll maybe walk with a limp for a while until I correct my balance).
A bundle of photos is below illustrating where my brain is going with all of this so far. But nothing is in production yet, so I'm still free to change my mind all I want. Hence my statement that I'm wide open to suggestions.
OK......... Fire away with all of your good taste and good ideas, my good people!

Hadley, you are a lucky lady! My all-time fave bezel is this one. You could put smaller cushion rubies on the sides (or another cut), and consider going without the millgrain. JbEG Astin I know that JbEG aren't doing custom work now, but maybe they would let you design something inspired by it? The undergallery is just so gorgeous, and it still looks practical to wear.

I like the first one you posted but I prefer open bezels/suspended bezels, whatever you wanna call them. Don't like it when they are closed on the sides, curved or not curved. I like to SEE my stone from the side. I do know that some styles just don't suit an open bezel though...
