I think it's very likely platinum.

I'm with Dana. Looks like it was scanned in to me, too. That would give the grainy background as well as the funky perspective. Hard to say on the metal...platinum or platinum plated over silver?

I think it's a scanned pic of a platinum piece... unplated white gold in darker light looks more yellow or whellow as some people like to call it... never dull or blackish...

... it's a gorgeous ring.... I'm thinking though it's platinum and a poor pic...

Do you guys know much about black rhodium or black gold??

i don't know what makes it black, i just know it's a plating, and it wears off (at least for me) faster than white rhodium plating does.
