The next time your coworker is wearing a cute scarf, ask her if you can try it on to test the color with your skin tone. Then use it to cover your mouth when you happen to go into a major coughing fit at the same moment. I'm sure she won't mind at all. LMAO ^5 Hadley Or ask to see a peice of her jewelry, then take out a loupe and start writing notes down...giggle while you do it.

calibabe- can you explain in detail how you did this? you put it in the oven cold then set the oven for 200 degrees. Did you start the 20 minute time once you first put it in or did you start the 20 minute time once the temp reached 200 degrees? Also, I know you let it sit in there after you turned the oven off for 15 minutes. So how long was the ring in the oven total? I need extreme detail because I may have to do this as well. I just ordered a 7mm H color cushion cut and MUCH prefer a steely look over an icy look. Thank you!!!!

Hi ladies, i honestly sort of winged and I didn't time it exactly, so i really don't have extreme, exact detail unfortunately. I just put it in the oven while the oven was cool and then i increased the temp slowly until it reached 200 (which took maybe 5 minutes or so?). Then it was about 20 minutes baking at 200, and then I just turned the oven off and let it sit for a while (maybe 15 minutes), and then i cracked open the oven and let it cool down completely for maybe another 15-20 minutes. In total it took about an hour.
I used tinfoil to make a "stand" for the ring by looping some of the tinfoil through the ring and then twisting/crunching/tightening it around the bottom of the band so that it was solid and the tinfoil only touched the bottom of the band. Then I put the stand on a regular cookie sheet (so only the tinfoil was touching the pan)
Maybe i was being completely naive, but my thought was that 200 degrees isn't terribly hot (another poster pointed out that it easily reaches 200 degrees on the inside of a car in the summer), and i figured that certainly the stone had to be able to withstand that kind of environment inside a hot car (especially if it was heated up slowly), otherwise people would have some huge problems with the stones when it comes to shipping/traveling etc. etc. and, i hadn't read anything like that.

Hello, after reading rave reviews about the asha on this website, I ordered my first asha ring and just received it in the mail yesterday. I got the elana ring from ashadiamonds.com in two tone (yellow gold band, white gold prongs), with an 7.5 h asha stone. I don't have a lot of experience with real diamonds and I wanted to see how the asha compared to authentic ones so i headed to the jewelry store in my local mall. I looked at a 1.5 ct H diamond solitaire and for whatever reason, their stone there was much much yellower, much much less sparkly, and in comparison my asha looked to have almost a bluish/violet tinge. When the lady asked why i wanted to compare the two i told her because the one i had was a simulant--and she basically straight up told me that she could tell it wasn't real because of the way it sparkled. Yikes! Not the kind of feedback i was hoping for ... Anyway, now i'm extremely self conscious and bummed about the ring because i obviously don't want to wear something that is so obviously fake (i would buy a real one if i could afford it!). So these are the questions i have for all of you sparklie experts out there: -Why would their H look so different from the asha h? is it possible that the mall jeweler h isn't really an h (maybe its lower quality than what they advertise)? or maybe ashadiamonds.com accidentally set it with an f/g? Maybe the ashadiamonds.com color scale is off??? Is this something any one else has experienced? -Is it true that there is such a thing as "too sparkly"? I always thought that the more sparkly it was, the better cut it was. In which case wouldn't that just mean it was extremely well cut??? Maybe the lady wasn't used to seeing well cut diamonds? it was a all jeweler afterall.. -Whats up with the bluish tinge? It that a dead giveaway? Is there anything i can do about this? -she also mentioned she could tell it was fake because it looked too flawless (she only looked at it with the naked eye). Couldn't the asha pass as a vs1 or a vs2 or higher since those clarity ratings mean that you can't see inclusions withthe naked eye?? I'm pretty sure all the stones they had in the mall had heavy inclusions. So sad about this!!! Help! Thank you!!!! Dont be sad Cali babe, when I first got my Asha, I immediately went to the "mall" jewelry store. I had a regular loose CZ and the Asha, and I pretended that I want them to check "Which one is the CZ and which is the diamond". (prior to going there, ive read many times that they arent as knowledgeable nor certified diamontologist-but I wanted to check anyway) As soon as I laid both stones, the sales lady was stunned! She said "OH MY! Look at those sparkle!" (Intrigued co-worker came by to take a look too, But took them fast enough to spot the CZ, but the asha, all they were saying is that, it has an excellent cut and they think it's probably a D-F color. As soon as they picked up the loupe to check the Asha, I told them right away that it isn't a Diamond. And they wanted to make sure it isn't and use that lil tool to find out if it's a moissy or diamond. after that, It gave me a bit of boost self confidence. But still, still got me worried. Oh btw, we got my settings made from a well known high end jewelry store in our area. As soon as the settings was made, Fiance and I went to the store to have them set the Asha. Boy, let me tell you!!!! These guys are well known to carry high end, the best quality Diamonds in town and only have certified diamontologist sales associates! and Non even for a second did they think it was a sim! I told them it's a H&A cut and they brought out the H&A viewer and she viewed it her self and said "this cut is AMAZING!" and she let us see through it and WOW... is all I can say! then we told them that it's not the real deal, she was shocked, called 2 of her coworkers and looked at the ring and just admired it and they couldn't believe its a sim. she then asked me where it was from and told her, she even wrote it down! So, before we put the stone away to be set, she said "I can't believe how gorgeous the ring is! its comparable to our GIA graded Diamonds we have, it looks just like the D graded 2.20Ct round over here" she brought it over and it does look like it! and she had to make sure that i am for sure it's not a diamond, so she had to use that tool to determine if its moissy or diamond. OMG! MORE boost of confidence for me! Fiance was then finally convinced that I made the right choice of begging him to take this route! oh! and btw, i keep my ring clean everyday and it doesnt fog up when I do the fog test! =) I get compliments on mine everyday and I love it! Another time is when I got my nails done. I dont know if you guys have heard, but I've heard this 2x while at the jewelry store, that Asians can actually spot inclusions and the yellow tint to diamonds. I used to get paranoid around Asian folks especially the old folks(not only that I know that is a fact,& because I am, one. but also for the fact that they can spot it right away. The same way before we took the Asha plunge, we shopped around for diamonds and I can easily spot the I's J's/the yellowish ones) but NOPE! not anymore! Non of my fiance's snobby (when it comes to diamonds)family even know that it is a sim. They always just admire it! even when I got my nails done, the Vietnamese lady who does my nails keeps talking about my ring and how shes been begging her husband to upgrade and how she loves how mine is.One time she told me, "Did u buy from asian jewelry store?" I told her "No, it's from --(where I got the settings from)--" she then told me that "Oh, I thought you get from the viet jewelry downtown, they only sell high quality diamond like that" (lol) anyway, girl, wear it with confidence!! trust me, as soon as you feel self conscious about it, that is what will give away that it's not real. I wear mine with confidence! and no one has ever questioned if it was real or not. =)

I know that this thread is over a month old but I had to comment since I stumbled upon it while searching for something.
I love this thread!!! I think it is the best thread for showcasing the asha and how it compares to diamonds as a sim. Not to mention, You guys are all amazing and awesome and so supportive and kind.
@calibabe your ring is amazing and how gutsy of you to just haul of and bake it like that, now you've got me in the mood to cook!
Also, I had someone breathe on my ring like that, at work, too. except it was a guy, can you believe it?! He literally put my ring is his mouth and he did it several times, I guess because it didn't fog up? IDK, but I tried it myself and it and like others have stated, it may fog for a sec but it disperses very quickly if it fogs at all. Needless to say, I learned my lesson when it comes to other people and their idiocy so my ring will never come off of my finger again. And, I say let's just be grateful that no one has tried to breathe on it while we were wearing them. I would be mortified...but I believe there are people out there who would try this! It is funny to me how so many people are so judgmental about something they obviously find attractive LOL.

Embrace your new Asha! I can tell you that I have a real diamond solitare and an Asha and if my real diamond is clean, you can hardly tell the difference between the 2. It's true, the Asha does sparkle more, but it sparkles in a way that a real diamond does when it's just been cleaned or catches the light in the right way. It's the kind of sparkle that most people WANT! It's not a bad thing at all. And as for the color, it's not nearly as noticable in every day life as you would think. Of course that snooty salesgirl made you feel bad. She was hoping to make a sale!
That being said, I don't know anyone with an Asha, except the gals I've met on this board. All of my friends have healthy sized diamonds and yet not one of them has ever questioned the authenticity of my ring. And I'm not telling a soul! One of my best friends used to work in sales at Tiffany & Co. I was terrified that she would be able to spot it as a fake right away. She inspected it closley with her naked eye, as any girlfriend would, and only raved about how much she loved it. If she couldn't tell it's a simulant after 8 years in the industry, trust me, no one can!
Don't be self conscious. Your ring is gorgeous! Have confidence and own it!
