If I were to get an H color H&A round: would I need to baked it for it to pass as a diamond? Do H's look too white & do you know if it will have enough debth?

Also...I've read that lots of people are putting them in a baking pan. Do I just lay it in an ordinary caserole dish? Someone mentioned making a "holder" out of tinfoil. Would I make the holder then place that in the baking dish? Sorry...I just want to make sure I do it right, if I find that I want to. (haven't received it yet)

I loved my Asha before I baked it, but I found that it had much more depth after I baked it a couple of times. Now I will probably bake any Asha I get in the future because I know how much more beautiful it makes them!

I baked mine in a glass Pyrex bowl on top of a cookie sheet in the center rack of my oven. I didn't make a "holder" for it, just laid the ring on its side in the bowl.

remember that doing any "baking" of an Asha risks shattering it.

and should any of you decide to sell any rings that you have "baked" please do be sure to inform the buyer that the stone may be compromised.

I've been around this forum for sometime and there have been some ladies that did bake their asha only for them to shatter like Dana has stated no time after they did so... I'm not saying what for you to do or not to do but just keep what Dana said in mind...

I can only remember one shattering after being blow torched. And Feydekin explained how that happened.

I cant find any posts of anyone baking and ruining an Asha - I am think about doing this myself - so would you happen to remember the members names? If its a real danger I will avoid doing it but I cant remember anyone baking and ruining...

As long as it heats up and cools down slowly it seems to have been fine from memory. Kind of like you dont put boiling water onto freezing cold glass because it shatters.

That is exactly what I found, NatalieStar. I did not take baking mine lightly at all. I did a lot of researching and reading and searching on this board and all I found was one user who used a butane torch and shattered her stone internally. I read a lot of baking success stories. It really came down to knowing I would like the Asha more after I baked it based on other stones I baked, so I went for it and I'm really glad I did. smile

Well mine is in the oven right now! I put it in at 200 celcius (390f) for 40mins and now its cooling, I had a peak and it hasn't cracked at this point, so unless it cracks while cooling I am in the clear!

My husband said "are you cooking jewellry!?" and I said yes smile and he said "take it out!" and I said you cant just take it out, I had to tell him to leave it alone :P

well, i shall say it again - should any of you decide to ever sell your Asha, do be sure to disclose the fact that the stone was baked and may be compromised.

i'm sure i'm not alone in saying that i would not want to buy an Asha, secondhand, to find out later that it had been compromised.

Ok, duly noted Dana. I dont know why that is relevant to this convo because I dont think anyone suggested they were going to sell their Asha. Or in particular that they planned to sell one and not disclose that it had been baked. But if you would like to throw that remark out there you by all means may.

Mine is my engagement ring so I will never sell it, but yes if I were to sell one that I baked I would definately disclose that it had been baked and the effect it had.

Mine is out of the oven and OK! And in all honesty it has only had a small impact on the stone, I would agree with those that say it seems a little clearer/crisper. It seems to pick up light in sections of my house which it did not used to.

I dont know that it was worth the risk, but my curiosity got the better of me smile and my stone is ok so I am a happy chappy.

Have a happy weekend all!
