I went past them in Covent Garden (London), the store looked very nice, amazing lighting setup!

I asked the staff what kind of stones they were, they answered "diamond simulations" when I asked what kind, if they were CZ? they reluctantly answered no, they are better, they grew them from minerals?

Few quotes from their website: http://www.carat.co/web/en/aboutUs

"we are also certain that you will not find a better alternative than CARAT*. "

"Measuring an impressive 8.5-9.0 Mohs (the scale of mineral hardness), with only diamond measuring the maximum 10 Mohs, our stones are close to sapphire and ruby in Hardness."

Anyone came across carat*?

It's crap. They are CZ. I've been to their store in CG too. It's a shame they try to mess ppl around with what their product is. Their settings can be lightweight, but still some pretty jewellery nonetheless!

Edit - I have my eyes on a few things wink

I believe the general consensus is that unless you're looking for "fun" jewelry, stay away!

Plus, their MOHS scale range is exactly right for CZ. Which it is. And CZ is grown from minerals. Not to mention, something with a hardness of 8.5 is roughly 15-20% as hard as a 10 on the Mohs scale, it isn't linear, so it is much less impressive than it sounds.

I've purchased from them. I never wore the ring because it was set too low to my finger and I missed the cut off time to return it. The setting is light weight like BMV mentioned, but the stones are very pretty. They ARE cz stones, not some spectacular stone they claim. None the less, pretty.
I'd add a picture of mine but it won't allow me to on this post for some reason.

ME I would save your money!! My boyfriend brought a ring from them 2 years ago and paid around £260...... What an utter waste of good money that was! Don't get me wrong they look beautiful on the website and the lighting in their shops show off the stones nicely, however the quality is shocking! I only wear my rings at weekends as my job doesnt allow me that pleasure.

The ring was a trilogy in 14k White gold, quite honestly the band was SO thin within 2 months (wearing it wkends only) a crack had appeared on the underneath !! Don't know why I didnt play merry Hell with them, but it was thrown into the jewellery box never to be worn again!
